I got a call from a woman who sounded Asian, but she hung up straight away when I questioned her. Then another call came through with a man, also Asian sounding, who got really rude when I pushed back. I can handle these idiots quite easily, but it’s worrying thinking about older folks or those not so well who might get tricked and end up giving away info that could let these scoundrels steal from them.

I got a call from a guy with an Asian accent, but the line was really shaky and I could hear loads of noise behind him. He claimed he was with BT and said there was some dodgy stuff happening on my router. When I asked him to prove he was actually from BT, he said he’d give me a unique code just for me. I just found it suspicious, had a chuckle, and hung up straight away.

Just a heads-up to everyone, there are calls coming in from people pretending to be from BT Openreach. They’ll warn you that your WiFi security has been compromised by others trying to gain unlawful access. They’ll then propose to put you through to some 'expert' who will have all sorts of schemes to supposedly remedy the situation. If you ask them for your name, they seem to vanish into thin air. Stay vigilant, folks!
