Got a ring from someone claiming to run a survey for the car brand I drive about a new gadget they put in. They seemed to know all my info, even the garage name and address where I got my car serviced. When I confirmed, they suddenly said their system crashed and they'd call me back, then just cut off. These dodgy calls can easily fool people who arent careful. Make sure you report every scam call to Action Fraud through their phishing report site. Do exactly what they say, especially the last part with the NFIB, when submitting your report. Its really the only way to catch these scammers, and the police will do their bit and arrest some of them BUT only if they get enough details from you.

Some bloke called asking for me by my full name. When I asked who it was, he said he was taking a customer survey for HSBC. I just hung up straight away. 1.) I don’t have an account with them. 2.) He never said where he was ringing from at the start, only mentioned it later when I questioned him. 3.) No proper bank would call you like that without you reaching out first, even if they don’t ask for info - if you do talk to them, they’d already have your details like name, phone, and bank. I’m definitely looking into this. Watch out - this feels like a total scam.

Got a call today from some guy who obviously knew my full name. He said he was doing a survey about a mortgage we applied for about three weeks ago. We turned down that mortgage because the interest rates were too high, and ended up going with a different lender offering better deals. Feels like they passed my info on to him. Someone rang me saying they were from FIAT UK. I told them I’d already done a survey, but they got quite rude, claiming they wouldn’t have called if I’d done one already. The call came at a strange time late at night, the tone was abrupt and the story didn’t add up, so I’ve blocked the number. Feels like a phishing attempt to me. A rather courteous gentleman with a distinct English accent popped up on the line to inquire about my experiences with my bank.
