I got a call from a bloke with a strong foreign accent, sounded like he worked at a call centre. He kept saying, “Hello madam?” then “Madam?” like he wasn’t sure. I asked if he really thought I ran some sort of brothel! Then he went on about my BT Internet. I told him I don’t even have BT Internet. He insisted I did, calling BT 'the mother of all Internet'. I asked, “If that’s the case, who’s the father then?” and he just seemed lost. My husband was listening and apparently didn’t get it either, because suddenly he hung up. And here I was, barely started with my fun!

I told them they’d called the wrong person and that my internet was working perfectly, then they just hung up. Right after that, I got another call from a robotic voice claiming to be Amazon, saying I owed nearly £80. This came from a completely different phone number, which I’ve also reported to the authorities.

Received a dodgy phone call on my home line on the 13th of October, 2020. An Indian-accented woman claimed that there was an issue with my Virgin Media router and that my internet speed was sluggish. When I informed her that I was a BT customer, she abruptly ended the call! What a relief!

Yet again, I received a call from a woman with a distinctly Indian accent claiming to be from Virgin Media, insisting there was an issue with my router. She alleged that my internet speed was subpar and that I needed to input a new ISP number. When I probed further about how I was supposed to do this, asking if she was suggesting a simple reboot of the router, she confirmed that yes, I had to act post-haste while she remained on the line! At that point, I promptly hung up! This transpired at 9:38 on Tuesday, the 12th of October, 2020, and marked the fourth such call I’d received in just two days, each one originating from different (UK) numbers. I was beginning to sceptically wonder if there was any truth to these claims. I'm now thoroughly convinced it's a scam, so cheers to the reports shared here! It seems like she cleverly gathers bits of information to make herself sound increasingly credible with each interaction.

It was a robotic bloke's voice stating, "Your Amazon Prime subscription is set to auto-renew..." and mentioned, "Stay on the line for assistance with [something I couldn't quite catch]." I decided to hang up, as it clearly sounded like a scam. Honestly, I wish these callers would suffer a variety of ailments - you know, nothing fatal, but just enough to make their lives rather uncomfortable. This was the second time in about an hour, but the number was different each time I checked with 1471. The voice sounded like the same lady though. I just told them I wasn’t interested in answering any questions and ended the call. Earlier one came from 01494297243.

Got a call from a woman who sounded like she had an Indian accent, claiming there was an issue with our SKY broadband speed. It was clear to me it was a scam. I told her she had the wrong idea, and she just ended the call.

This bloke named John rang me a total of 9 times! He claimed there was an issue with my internet, but I don’t even use WiFi. Told him to shove it! The very next day, I got the other 8 calls back to back, nonstop for about 8 minutes! I told them I’d saved the number and was going to report it to the cops! They hung up straight away and never called again! Anyone from High Wycombe fancy dropping by their place instead??

The phone rang a few times and when I answered, there was nothing but silence. If you ever get calls like this, just say you’ve got a couple of computers and then ask for the IP address of the one that’s acting up. They usually call at random, so they won’t have a clue and will just hang up. If it was a legit call, they’d actually know what they're on about, but they never seem to. Whatever happens, never share any personal details with them.

People keep ringing me saying they're from Sky - I’ve had about 7 calls over the past couple of days. The moment I ask if there’s anything I need to do, they just cut the call. I’m guessing it’s dodgy and they’re probably after cash or trying to get into your house somehow. Not gonna lie though, I haven’t bothered sticking around to see what their game really is. Marked the number as risky just in case.

Received a dodgy call on my home phone on the 2nd of October. An individual with an Indian accent claimed there was an issue with my Virgin Media router and that it required a replacement. She began probing about the lights on the device, but as soon as I mentioned contacting Virgin Media directly, she abruptly cut the call. Quite certain this was a scam attempt!

Got a call from someone saying they were from Sky, rang me up three times over the last couple days. When I questioned why they needed the code on my router, the caller actually went and called me stupid. What a cheek!

Got a call saying there was an issue with my Virgin Media and they asked me to turn on my computer and share some details. I rang Virgin Media myself and told them about this number. If anyone calls you like this, just hang up straight away.

This so-called ‘Virgin Media’ number is total rubbish. I rang Virgin myself and they confirmed it’s a scam. Virgin Media would only ring you if there was something going on with your account, like a fault you reported, and even then it’d be from an 0345 number, never just a random phone call. Please be careful and don’t give these scammers any personal info! Stay sharp, folks!

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent saying she was Annie from Virgin Media - my actual provider. She said there were problems with my router, which isn’t true at all, and asked to get access to it. Just so you know, Virgin Media can check the router themselves without asking, so this has scam written all over it.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with BT Openreach, saying they needed to check my broadband speed before putting in fibre and asked me for my router password. They said fibre would be set up in a couple of days. I told them that wasn’t right, that I already knew my broadband speed, and definitely wasn’t sharing any passwords. After that, they just ended the call.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with Amazon about a charge on my Amazon Prime but I don’t even have a Prime account. They’ve rung me three times just this morning and it’s only half past eleven! Plus, I’ve had loads of calls from them the past few days too.

Got a call from someone named ‘Robin’, said it was about a domain I own. When I asked which domain, he kinda shuffled around and got all vague about one of the many I’ve got registered. Then I asked if he knew about the TPS, and he totally didn’t seem to. Bit fishy if you ask me.

Some bloke said he was from Virgin Media saying there was a problem with my router update. He asked me to get on my PC so he could have a tech explain what to do next. I just ended the call then and there! Honestly, I kinda like messing around with these callers - if I’m taking up their time, maybe they’re less able to bother other folks with their scams!

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent, saying he was from Virgin Media’s tech support in London. He told me my internet was being hacked and downloading harmful stuff onto my router and PC. I figured I’d hear him out for a bit. He asked about a blinking light on the back of my router, but mine doesn’t even have one! Then he put me on to his so-called “tech” expert who just repeated the same claims. I told him I was covered with top-notch antivirus, and then the call just cut off.
