I seriously doubt Shirley is real, she threatens to "disconnect your internet" but I’m not buying it.

JUST WANTED TO GIVE AN UPDATE ABOUT MY PHONE. BT said there's nothing they can do, so I've asked them to switch my number, which should take about a day but still hasn't happened? On the first day alone, I ended up talking to more than 300 people across the UK. By the second day, it got so much I just unplugged the phone. Please don’t waste your time calling this number again, I’m just a mum from Norfolk and have no connection whatsoever to the scam that’s going around.

Just a quick update about my phone. BT said there’s nothing they can do, so I’ve asked for a number change, which should take about 24 hours - but they haven’t sorted it yet. On the first afternoon alone, I spoke to over 300 callers from all over the country! When the calls didn’t stop on day two, we just unplugged the phone. Please don’t bother calling this number again, I’m just a mum from Norfolk and have absolutely nothing to do with any scam they might be running.

I got a call on my landline from this number but have no clue who it was. Just a heads up, watch out for potential scammers. I'm retired and stuff like this really concerns me, especially since my number is supposed to be unlisted. Cheers.

Got a call from my ISP (BT and a few others do this), claiming my internet was at risk. Then they handed me over to 'tech support' who wouldn't really explain much. They said they’d ring me back but never did. Tried to get me to let them control my computer too, which felt pretty dodgy.

I got a call yesterday from this number 01493 700779. Some woman named "Shirley" with an American accent was speaking, sounded automatic. She said something about my internet having issues with IPs from different countries and that it might get cut off or some sort of scam explanation. Honestly, I just ended the call straight away. From what I see, she's been ringing a lot of people lately. Proper annoyance!

I’m amazed how quickly BT would disconnect your line if you missed a payment, yet these scammers keep ringing non stop. It seems like the phone companies let them carry on because they profit from the calls somehow. They have the power to stop these fraudsters but just turn a blind eye. Honestly, I think the service providers share the blame for letting this mess go on.

This number sounds exactly like the one others have mentioned here. If it really is TalkTalk, as one of the comments suggests, they should be made aware of it. I've already put the number on my block list.

This is my home phone number, a regular landline that’s been compromised. I’ve already told BT about it. Anyone in Norfolk who’s experienced something similar?

Got a call from this number yesterday and it was just some recorded message. The woman said she was Shirley from an internet company but didn’t say which one exactly. She claimed my internet had been hacked and that they needed to swap out my router and change my IP. The caller ID showed it as an international call, but the area code is actually Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, which is local to me here in the UK. Knowing how things go, no legit internet firm would call someone out of the blue about router issues like that, so I’m 99% sure it was a scam.
