From what I’ve heard, lots of these calls are to check if someone’s in the house or to get a feel on who is answering. I reckon the Department for Work and Pensions is fans of these calls, plus some local councils might be in on it too. Bit worrying really, considering how dodgy some of those folks can be.

Got a call from a bloke who said his name was Wayne, but couldn't figure out where he was calling from before he just hung up on me.

Didn’t pick up since the number was unfamiliar. Prob a spam or annoying telemarketer. I’ve blocked it now but I’m sure they’ll ring from another one.
