They started urging me to pull up EVENTVWR on my computer, claiming it would show issue alerts that they could mend, and that they could link me to the "main BT server." Their next move was to direct me to the website www.anydesk.com, which is a genuine platform that offers an application for remote desktop access. They wanted me to download this software, which I pretended to do (but I didn’t actually). After that, they prompted me for the nine-digit code that would appear once I launched the app. Curiously, I provided them with a made-up number (438 412 431) just to see how things would unfold. Their intention was clearly to gain remote access to my computer, but it soon became evident that I wasn’t going to play along.
