Got one of those classic ‘washing machine warranty’ calls the other day, trying to sell me a renewal for either £69.99 or £99.99 if I wanted a replacement included. I somehow got through to the supervisor and kept the chat going for about 4 minutes. Eventually, I told them I was just winding them up for fun. They sounded quite annoyed, but honestly, they started the whole thing!

Messed about with the caller for like 8 minutes, gave her a made-up visa card number for the payment, then started cussing to try and get her off the line. They rang me back a bit later saying they were legit. Ended up getting sworn at loads more times.

Somebody called saying they were from BT Openreach checking my internet speed. I gave the phone to my lad and he tweeted BT Openreach about it. They replied, saying it was a total scam because they don’t do speed checks like that, and advised us to report the call.

A guy with an asian accent called askin about the internet. Told him it was my son’s job, and he wanted to chat with him so i said he wasnt in (even though he was). He said he would call again. Doubt he will.

Got a call about some washing machine insurance, but from what I can see reading other people’s comments, it’s the same scam but with all sorts like broadband and other white goods. They seem to just pitch whatever they fancy that day. Honestly, steer well clear of these lot. There’s loads of proper extended warranty options out there, like from the actual manufacturers, so no need to throw your money away on these dodgy callers. Makes me wonder if Trading Standards ever bother looking at these reviews and if they do anything about it.

Got a call from someone with an Asian accent pretending to be from Amazon Prime. They told me I'd made some purchases yesterday, which I obviously hadn't. They said it was some kind of security check, but I've since confirmed with both Amazon and my bank that it’s all a con. Proper dodgy scam.

I received a call from someone with an Indian accent who was inquiring about Mr Kelly, which isn't my name. I decided not to engage, and there seemed to be something off about the caller-perhaps a breathing issue or they were suffering from a nasty cold. After about half a minute of awkward silence, I ended the call and promptly blocked the number.

A woman with an Indian accent phoned me, saying she was from Openreach and could help improve my internet connection. She requested that I power up my computer and adhere to her guidance. I explained that I only had an iPad and no computer. She abruptly ended the call.

I received a call from someone who claimed to be James Morgan, and his accent was undeniably thick with Indian influence, claiming to represent BT Openreach. When I inquired whether he needed my credit card details and PIN, his reaction was rather shocking - “oh my God, do you really think I’m attempting to pull a fast one?” I replied firmly, “Indeed, I do, as a genuine BT representative wouldn’t resort to such foul language during a customer service call.” In light of that, I promptly ended the conversation.
