I'm so sick of getting calls like this all the time.

Answered the phone and at first there was silence, then I caught the noise of a busy call centre in the background. That was enough for me to hang up! Have now blocked the number using BT 1572, seems to work well.

The call came in with a lot of background noise, and they claimed they were from the telephone preference service. They asked for my card details, but I just ended the call straight away.

I got a ring from 0148588546, and a woman with a thick Indian accent said she was calling from the TPS (telephone preference service). She was telling me to upgrade so I wouldn’t get any more annoying calls. I asked her what her name was and what number she was calling from, but she didn’t say anything back. I could hear people chatting in the background before she just hung up. I ended up unplugging the phone from the wall and plugging it back in, and that cut the call off.

Got a call from a guy claiming to be from TPS, he even had my name and postcode. Felt dodgy so I just hung up and reported it on BT 1572 as a scam. Just a heads up to be careful!

a guy called alex with a really thick indian accent rang me, said he was from tps and seemed to have loads of details about me already. he asked for the expiry date on my bank card. before he could get me to say anything more, he said he was passing me on to his manager, so I just cut the call. feeling pretty anxious now. is it possible they can do anything just with a card’s expiry date?

At first, I believed he mentioned the telephone preference service. But when he started going on about my visa card being about to expire, I asked, “Isn’t the TPS stuff free? Why do you need money then?” He quickly corrected me, saying, “No, we’re with the telephone management service.” I ended the call pretty sharpish after that. He definitely wasn’t calling from Hunstanton - sounded more like Calcutta or Delhi, if you ask me.

Got a call from a bloke claiming he was from the telephone preference service, which sounded fishy since I’ve had calls like that before. I told him to buzz off and hung up straight away. Already blocked his number now.

Wasn't familiar with the number so I let it ring out. This was actually the second call today from a number almost the same as one I got earlier, just with a different dialling code. Sounds a bit fishy to me.

some guy rang up with a heavy indian accent claiming to be from the telephone preference service management team, saying he had some update for me. i know tps doesn’t ring people like that, so i called him out saying i wasn’t born yesterday and it sounded like one of those scams you hear about. he then hung up on me straight away. what was funny was he also mistook me for someone who passed away like 20 years ago!

Got a call from a guy with a really thick Indian accent claiming he was part of the telephone preference service management. He said their system was being updated and promised no more scammy calls from the UK or abroad. Then he asked me for my card info, which I refused - didn't want to pay anything. Next thing, he put me through to his manager who wanted to double-check my details. What creeped me out was how much of my personal info they already had, even my postcode. Proper unsettling.
