I received a call from some individuals who, albeit addressing me by my correct first name, mispronounced my last name with something quite similar but inaccurate. I politely informed them that there’s no one here by that name. I'm curious to uncover their identity, yet I’m not keen on returning the call myself.

Just got a call from Cabot Financial pretending to be a garage door firm, trying to check if they’ve got the right number for some ‘customer’. Absolute debt chasers, really. Best thing is to just block them and don’t bother answering - you’re not obliged to pick up for these lot.

Just got a call from this number today for the first time. If you use an answerphone I’d suggest saying something like “If this is a dodgy cold caller, hang up now or I’ll report you to the police, otherwise leave a message.” If you have caller ID and don’t know who it is, I find it best to let it go through to the answerphone. Usually, they don’t bother leaving a message or calling back again.

Beware of Crocodile Garage Doors. I asked for a brochure once and now they keep ringing me nonstop. Every time I remind them I haven’t even started building the garage yet and ask them to quit calling, they say they understand, but the calls just don’t stop. When a company pushes this hard with unclear prices and insists on a home visit despite giving them all my measurements over the phone, you can bet they’re making a huge profit - way over 50% in my opinion.
