Got a call from someone selling a health alert necklace or something like that. The guy spoke with a fancy accent and asked if we owned our home. Got a call around 5:50pm today about some free medical alert gadget. The voice sounded English, but it was obvious it was a recorded message because it kept pausing and restarting. They said the device was free, but you'd have to pay for 24/7 monitoring. When I realised they were heading towards asking for bank details, I told them to stop, but the recording kept going anyway. I just ended the call quickly, knowing it was definitely a scam. Just another dodgy attempt to trick vulnerable elderly folks who need medical help.

I got a call saying it was about a medical alert and they wanted to check if I was a particular age and had some health issues. I asked them to say that again since I didn’t catch it properly, but instead of repeating they just kept going like nothing, pausing here and there like a pre-recorded thing waiting for me to respond. Just like a few others have mentioned - this bloke rang up sayin’ he’s from some Medical Alert Centre. Asked if I was over 50 and the owner of the house. Then tried to chat about medical issues and offered a pendant for medical emergencies. Told him I’m fit and well, no problems at all, and then ended the call. Still, seems like it could catch out older folks who might not be as careful.

Every morning around 8 o’clock, this number rings me up, then calls back about 20 minutes later to tell me I missed their call. It’s some dodgy automated message saying my internet will get cut off in 24 hours because of illegal stuff on my account. Yeah, right! I actually use the internet! Yesterday alone they called me four times with the same rubbish. Proper annoying!

Just like a lot of people have said, this was definitely one of those medical scams. The caller kicked off by saying, "Are you the homeowner?" and seemed pretty believable at first. But then when I asked what the reason for the call was, the response was all confusing, like "Sorry, I didn't get that, please press one." Yeah, that was my clue it was a dodgy call, so I just hung up.

Really sneaky trick, this one. The person’s voice actually sounded pretty real, and when they said “sorry, didn’t quite catch that,” it felt legit too. But then comes the bit where they ask you to press 1 or 9 and you suddenly twig it’s one of those standard scams.
