It was clear he plucked my number from the directory since he addressed my partner using my name. He claimed to be situated on Margaret Street in London, but the code he provided pointed straight to Guildford in Surrey! I decided to engage him further, peppering him with queries like the purpose of his call and who my direct debit goes to (which he failed miserably at, given I'm not even with BT). It seemed as though he either grew tired of our little game or caught on to our ruse and abruptly ended the call. We've now taken up a new pastime: seeing just how long we can keep these con artists on the line.
