Someone phoned claiming to be from Santander, wanting to verify some recent payments on my account. I told them I hadn’t made any transactions for those sums. They then asked me to confirm my name and balance, which I refused to do. Next, they asked for my account number, but I told them I didn’t have it nearby. They said they’d ring back. I checked with BT and the number isn’t even real. Definitely a scam, no shock there at all!
