I got a call from a guy with an Asian accent who claimed to be from British Gas. This was soon after I'd rang their customer service about an issue, which by then was already fixed. Still, he insisted on discussing the matter further. He tried to get me to confirm some details, but I didn’t share anything. Oddly enough, he did mention the name of the agent I’d originally dealt with. When I asked for proof of who he really was, he told me to call him back. He seemed to get a bit annoyed when I didn’t go along with it. Just a heads up!

I've received two calls from this number over the past couple of days. Today, I finally picked up and spoke to a chap with a rather thick accent. He asserted he was representing British Gas and insisted on getting my full name and postcode. I was quite reticent to comply as he failed to verify his identity satisfactorily. When I held my ground, he made a rather alarming claim that I needed to ring back as he had details about an emergency. However, he would not divulge what this so-called emergency was unless I shared my postcode with him. Quite suspect, if you ask me!
