Beware, this is a scam. The fraudster seems to be using multiple phone numbers, like 01483 300344 and 01483 386067, both tied to the same con. Stay careful!

Dodgy call, the bloke was trying to get me to spill my personal info.

I wondered who it was, ended up signing up for a charity right at my doorstep. The number showing was from Gather campaigns, they’re the folks behind the fundraising. Feels good knowing it’s legit and I’m glad I could give a bit!

This sounds like one of those charity scams, probably 99% chance it’s not legit.

This isn’t a con or anything dodgy. I got a call back from FareShare, you know, that charity fighting food poverty. If you’ve recently agreed to give monthly donations through one of their street reps, they call again just to double-check you’re still on board with it.

Out of the blue, I got a text saying thanks for joining some charity linked to Money Experts and asked me to ring a number to verify my info. Thing is, I never signed up for any charity and don’t even do online banking. Looks like a classic scam trying to steal personal details. Definitely avoid ringing that number!

Two blokes called me, claiming they were from RVS, but after checking the number online, it turns out it’s linked to a charity scam. Got properly duped by those lads.

It’s not you they’re trying to rip off, it’s those young kids wandering round market stalls, in the rain, going door to door hoping they make a sale eventually. They just earn from commission, so cut them some slack and be kind.

Gather Campaigns is a charity fundraising agency I recently used. After I signed up to donate, they phoned me to check if I was satisfied with my donation and to answer any questions I had. During the call, they asked me a few questions just to verify my details before passing them on to the charity. Importantly, they never asked for any banking information over the phone. They advised me to get in touch with the charity itself if I had any worries, to reassure myself that the charity works with them and has received my information. I did exactly that, just to be on the safe side.

Someone came round and got me to join a charity. They just asked for my sort code and account number, which I know can’t be used to scam me, so I felt alright about it. They seemed really grateful too.

I got a call from a verification centre, they double checked my info and also asked if I wanted to contribute to a charity.

Watch out, this was a total scam! I stupidly shared my bank info after a call that seemed legit, they said it was from Windsor High Street or something. Then I got another call that didn’t feel right at all, nothing professional about it. I ended up shutting down my account and cancelling my card just to be safe. The email looked super genuine too, so don’t trust it like I did. Keep a sharp eye on your bank if you get contacted like this!

Had a couple of folks knock on my door claiming they were from Oxfam and asking if I’d like to pledge £10. They handed me a phone number to confirm the donation, but honestly, I felt a bit rushed and suspicious. So, I rang my bank straight after and actually moved my funds to another account just in case. I snapped a pic of the bloke’s ID too, but it didn’t say Oxfam anywhere, just “gather campaigns” with a name and some fundraiser ID. Never got the promised call or email to verify. Planning to ring the bank again in the morning to make sure nothing’s taken out for Oxfam.

Got a call from some charity centre today, they said I could check if I actually want to go ahead with giving donations or not. Pretty handy for people who aren’t sure if they want to give or not.

Some folks showed up at my door claiming to be from the WWF animal charity, and they had all the proper badges and stuff. But they kept pushing me, like "go grab your phone, we can hang around while you call to check us out." So I did make a call just to be safe... now I’m getting non-stop calls from them! It’s really annoying.

I had to confirm with a few charities first. They give you a ring to double-check that you're really up for making a donation before anything gets sorted.

Beware of this number, it's connected to a charity scam - NEVER share your bank information with strangers!!! They might come across as sincere, but they’re just out to take money, especially from vulnerable folks. Definitely don't trust them!

While I had charity collectors knocking, I got a call and the person on the other end barely spoke any English. It sounded more like some call centre from India or somewhere similar.

Just a bit ago I posted something under here. I gave it a neutral rating because I got in touch with the National Death Children's Society and they said there were salespeople going around our neighbourhood last night. However, she couldn’t confirm the exact phone numbers that called me and didn’t want to take them, mentioning they might use various numbers. So, without being certain of the numbers, I can't say for sure - but it’s good to know the people who were out last night were legit.

I got a call off this number from some charity trying to double check if two people knocking at my door were genuinely with them. They said those folks would show different types of ID. Turns out, they were right. But honestly, I hadn’t come across that charity before at all.

So, there was this girl who stopped me in the town centre, saying she was collecting for bereaved army families. While she was there, I got a call from this number and ended up giving them my bank info to set up a £10 monthly direct debit. She had what looked like proper ID, but honestly, who really looks that closely? Later, I found it strange she asked me to switch off my phone’s spam filter. I did a quick online search of the number and now I’m wondering if this is actually a scam pretending to be a charity. Anyone else heard of this?

Had a knock from some folks representing a kids charity, asking for details to set up a £10 monthly donation for my daughter. They were wearing badges and had official-looking gear on. Then they rang me back from this number to verify everything.

So, yesterday this young woman showed up at my door asking for help with Breast Cancer support. She had some kind of official ID or notification with her. Then, just this morning I got a phone call from them saying I’d get some paperwork through the post within a fortnight. Should I be worried and try to cancel it before anything actually happens? Please let me know quickly. Cheers, Andy Baker - Mobile 07736619312.

The guy who wrote in the grey section below seems like he’s been scammed. Don’t ever hand over your bank info or agree to anything from unexpected calls or people showing up at your door. Plus, you shared your phone number out here in an open forum, which is a magnet for scammers from both abroad and the UK. Sounds like you might’ve unintentionally caused yourself some trouble. By the way, if you’re planning to donate to charity, always do it through the official site online and remember to use gift aid. Check out the red caution post below for more info.
