Got a call from SMSR Ltd the other day - looked them up and yeah, they’re legit. They do surveys for the police. Apparently, the police have to share some basic info with these survey companies so they can check how they’re doing and how happy the public is with them, all part of some Home Office rules. You don’t have to pick up or take part if you don’t want, I just ignored the call and ended up blocking the number.

They were very polite when they answered and even knew my name and the details of the incident I’d reported to the police on a certain date (all accurate). I was a bit wary though, as their tone changed when I asked who they were, they got quite sharp and said "so you don’t care then?" before hanging up. I do think the call was legit, but if you’ve made a report to the local police, they really should tell you to expect calls like this or give you the option to opt out. I get why they’d want an independent company to do the survey, but honestly, people should be told beforehand.

The voicemail claimed it was from SMR Limited, but then a message in what sounded like Arabic or Indian accent came on, maybe saying the same thing. There was also a different number mentioned, 0800 138 0845, linked to a Lee Atkinson with call recordings and some extension details, plus a Richard Newth connected to Sussex police. Definitely seemed dodgy to me.

I got a call yesterday from someone named Michaela, number 01482 680911. I rang back today to check if it was genuine. She said she was from the police about a surgery. I looked up the number online and saw it's been reported loads of times. The voicemail said it was from SMR Limited, then some message in an Arabic or Indian accent. There’s also another number, 0800 138 0845, linked to Lee Atkinson with a call recording and 101 ext, something about ext 544 and a Richard Newth [email protected] who’s with Sussex Police, according to what I found. Seems dodgy to me!
