Got a call from a guy who sounded Asian, he knew my name and where I lived. Claimed he was from the Ministry of Justice and said I’m owed a refund for some bank fees. Looked up the number through 1471 and turns out it was fake. My first phishing scam call this year!

Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent who said her name was Karen. She told me I was chosen to get money back for bank fees because of some new government rule last month (Dec 16). She already had my name and address, which was a bit worrying. Then she asked for my date of birth, but when I asked which bank was supposed to give me the refund, she got kinda defensive. I told her I wasn't convinced, and she just quickly said "Alright, bye" and hung up. Seriously, don’t share any info with these people!

I received a call from this outfit purporting to be some sort of government claims advisory service. They had my full name, address, and date of birth at their fingertips. The chap on the line mentioned that a cheque was supposedly on its way to me for a refund of bank fees. However, when I declined to provide any additional personal details, he promptly terminated the call. The bloke, who said his name was William Smith, had a distinctly Indian accent. What a truly laughable scam!

I received a call from someone insisting they were with a group aimed at assisting individuals in reclaiming excessive charges from financial institutions. However, whenever I probed with clear-cut questions, such as which specific bank he represented, the timeline for these alleged charges, and the actual amounts involved, he became evasive and eventually hung up. It's glaringly obvious this was a dodgy attempt to extract my banking information. Complete charlatan if you ask me!

Got a call from an Asian woman. Didn’t quite catch her name but she claimed I could get back interest that supposedly had been unfairly charged on my bank and building society accounts over the last 20 years because of some new government regulation. She knew my full name, address, and phone number, though she messed up the postcode. Didn’t bother fixing her on that. Asked her to send me the details in writing since I’m always suspicious of cold calls. She agreed and then just hung up. Curious if I’ll get anything in the post now!

CAUTION: This is definitely a scam! Hang up immediately and block the number if possible. These are tricksters operating from India, and they seem to think all Brits are gullible. Whatever you do, don’t share any personal information or confirm anything with them. If they keep harping on, just say the person they're after has either moved away, passed on, or emigrated-perhaps to somewhere in India! Just get them off the line without revealing anything about yourself. This number has called me a staggering 16 times, but thankfully my BT Call Guardian has managed to keep them at bay. K41

An Asian gentleman phoned me around 5pm on 16/12/2016, asking for details about my house's value because apparently it’s up for sale. This was really odd since the house isn't on the market yet - I haven’t listed it with any estate agents. Interesting coincidence or what? Just a day before, on 15/12/2016, I’d already been in touch with 3 local estate agents about getting a valuation, and had appointments set for them to visit the next week. The real question is, who passed on my private info to that caller? He somehow knew my address!

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent, who somehow knew my name and my home’s name. She said I was owed money back from banks because of some wrong charges. When I asked which bank she meant, she just said “all banks and building societies.” Then when I pressed for a specific name, she ended the call straight away. Feels like a scam, probably trying to get personal info. Really worrying, and honestly should be looked into for possible fraud. Also, why are they using a number with a Hull area code? That seems odd.

This number is undoubtedly suspicious. I received a call from a woman with an Indian accent who seemed to know my name and asked me to confirm my house name, which I refused to do, though her information was accurate. She claimed that they were processing a refund for erroneous charges from my bank. When I probed her for the name of my bank, she evasively mentioned “all banks and building societies.” When I insisted on a specific name, she abruptly ended the call. It’s clear they’re attempting to gather personal information to carry out some sort of scam. Given the numerous reports about this number, why is there no action taken against them? Surely an investigation and subsequent criminal charges should follow.

I received a call from a chap named John Williams claiming to represent the Claims Advisory Service. He spoke to my husband initially and then to me, insisting that I could claim a refund from the government for excessive bank charges I’d supposedly paid. He was quite insistent on gathering a fair bit of personal information, and he provided a reference number for me to quote to someone else who’s meant to ring me later on today. At one point, he asked for my mobile number-just in case the landline played up-but I opted not to share it.

Got a call from a bloke saying he was Roman Wilson, sounded Asian, telling me the government was refunding bank fees. He wanted my birthday and which bank I’m with. Felt dodgy straight away, so I looked up the number he rang from - 01572675765 - it didn’t show up as a proper one. He said someone from Claims Advisory group on 11006009 would call me the next day. When I looked up that number, loads of others had reported the same call. I’m definitely not picking up if they ring back!

My mother keeps receiving calls from this particular number, along with a slew of others, claiming they require her personal information, such as her banking details, to issue a refund into her account. Fortunately, she's not the gullible type. It’s always the same Indian gentleman-going by names like Colin, Paul, Peter, or John-who turns quite unpleasant and abrasive whenever she declines to hand over the information he’s after.

It’s rather frustrating, isn’t it? Whenever I try ringing the number back, it turns out to be unobtainable. Lately, I've been inundated with calls from numbers that share my area code, and I’ll admit, I tend to pick them up. Much to my surprise, I frequently end up speaking to someone-usually a chap with a thick accent-who claims his name is Colin! I often inquire about his whereabouts in my town, which leaves him rather flummoxed. Honestly, it’s not that hard to figure out!

Some guy with an Asian accent named John Wilson phoned me, claiming the government was making the bank refund money and that a cheque would be sent to my home. He gave me a reference number and then asked for my date of birth as a sort of confirmation. If the bank had my address, they’d just post the cheque anyway. I just ended the call.

Its been ages since I got a spam call, but this was the third one just today, I'm so unlucky! The bloke’s English was really rough, I could barely make out what he was going on about, probably something about reclaiming bank fees or PPI or summat, who can tell.

They just wouldnt leave me alone, rang me 3 times within 15 minutes!

It’s one of those bank fee scams. When I can, I like to mess with them a bit, asking for a password or telling them to speak louder. Better they’re wasting time chatting to me than tricking someone who might be more gullible.

Got a call today from the same outfit. They added an extra zero at the start of the number on my caller ID. When I tried calling back, it said "number not recognised." Dialing 01482676876 just gave me a dead tone - number unreachable. Clearly, they’re using fake numbers. Modern tech makes this easy for them. Would definitely steer clear of these!

For over a decade now, I've been receiving calls from this nuisance asking for someone named Mr Holden. I've absolutely no clue who that is and he’s certainly never resided at my address. I've tried blocking their number, yet they seem to have an endless supply of alternative numbers to ring me from. It's rather infuriating!

This number keeps ringing me around 3 to 5 times daily, sometimes with slight changes in the digits. Mostly, the voices sound Asian. The callers seem really unskilled in how they talk - they never just outright tell you who they’re with or clearly explain the reason for their call. I usually just stay quiet and wait for them to put the phone down.

01482 676876 Just got a call from this number, my wife answered and some foreign bloke with a funny accent was asking for someone who doesn’t even live here. When she told him that, he got really rude and started calling her nasty names before she ended the call. We’ve been getting calls from this number loads recently, sometimes twice a day.

This number keeps calling all the time. When I answer, it's either someone really impolite or they just drop the call straight away! Either way, it's super frustrating and honestly, something needs to be done to stop this.

This number just rang my elderly folks, saying they’re from some company called Michael Wilson Claim Advisory Group, promising a cheque and even gave a cheque number 11006009. They asked for their bank name (not the account number). My parents are really scared to pick up the phone now, especially since they got a call recently about HMRC owing them money, which was a recorded message. This sort of thing needs to be dealt with asap, these poor old people shouldn’t be targeted like this. They’re not well and gettin’ stressed out by all this.

Got a call from 01482676876 on 4th August 2016. The person said he was calling from the Ministry of Justice and that I had some money owed to me. I joked that they could just pay it through my pension. Then he changed his story, claiming it was actually the banks who owed me, not the MOJ, and that the money couldn’t be paid straight to me. I called him out on being a scammer and he just hung up. What he wasn’t aware of was that I used to work for the MOJ and had already reported that number to them.

Hull calls me all the time - every day I get at least a couple or three from that area code but with different numbers. It’s a PPI claims company. I used to pick up and tell them I don’t have any claims and asked them to take my details off their list. But they must be sharing my info because then I started getting calls from loads of other PPI companies, like 7 to 10 different numbers daily. Now I just let all calls go to voicemail.

Got a call from an asian woman ranting about "big banks refunding fees" or something like that!! When I asked which bank she meant, she just said all the major ones. Couldn't get a clear reply, so I said if you don’t even know my bank, you’re not worth my time. Hung up on her. I was sure it was a scam, but I kinda like messing with them and wasting their effort :D

Today, I got a call from a John Wilson claiming to be from the Ministry of Justice. He was saying I had some bank charges to be refunded. When I asked which bank, he hesitated and just said "major banks". I pressed him again for a specific one, but he repeated the same vague answer. Then he said they'd send a cheque to an address that's not mine and haven't lived at for more than ten years. As soon as I told him that, he just hung up! Absolutely don’t share any personal info with calls like this - it’s totally a scam.

Got a call from 01482676876 earlier, and the bloke seemed to already know my name. From the sound of his accent, I’m guessing he was Asian. I had to ask him to say things a few times cause I couldn’t catch what he was on about. He said he was (can’t quite recall the name he used) and said something about the ministry. When I asked him to repeat which ministry, he just cut the call!

I received a rather bothersome call earlier today from that number, with a woman identifying herself as Barbara Gorden from the Claims Advisory Group. She was chirping on about an undisclosed cheque supposedly owed to me by my bank. They even provided me with a reference number to mention when a so-called "senior" individual was supposed to ring me back. When I inquired what they were after, she mentioned something about wanting 10% of the cheque they claimed I would receive. I informed them that I had absolutely no interest in any cheque, and just like that, they hung up! Quite the cheek, if you ask me!
