I got a call from someone claiming to be with a company I thought was called Switch Connect. They also mentioned another number, 0871 918 9188, which I knew was from a real company (Switch Connect has a website under both SwitchNumbers and Tele). I decided to ring that 0871 number to check, and a bloke there said the STD code was theirs but the rest of the number definitely wasn’t. He reckoned it might be some random scammer ringing about, or maybe someone using real company names to find out if homes are occupied before maybe breaking in.
