I received a call from someone claiming to represent a company that sounded like Switch Connect. They also threw in another number, 0871 918 9188, which I’ve discovered is indeed associated with the genuine company (they operate online under Switch Connect or Switch Numbers). Curious about the 0871 figure, I rang it back. A chap on the line verified that it is, in fact, their legitimate STD number. However, he mentioned that the other number they called from is not part of their operations. He speculated that it could be some random caller making the rounds or, even more troubling, a character masquerading as reputable firms to gauge if anyone's home, possibly with an eye towards burglary.
