I received a call from 01482 509571 and let me tell you, it’s a dodgy call! It was an automated recording claiming to be from HMRC, insisting I had erred on my tax return. The message urged me to press #1 straight away to get in touch with an advisor, warning that not doing so could lead to prosecution. Naturally, I didn’t press #1 and chose to hang up instead. I've had numerous conversations with HMRC before, and they always address me by name along with my business details and employer reference number.
