I have had quite a few instances like this lately. I simply inform the individual on the other end of the phone that I have experienced several accidents in the past few weeks, which seems to have had an impact on my memory. I kindly request them to specify which accident they are referring to, so that I can try to assist them. However, after a few minutes, they become annoyed and hang up the call. By the way, a similar tactic of wasting their time also proves effective when dealing with people who call about PC issues.
