7 yearsI received a call today, the 28th of October 2019, around 11:45 AM. The caller had a distinct Indian accent and claimed to be from BT. He informed me that they were monitoring the phone lines and my router's download speeds and apparently had detected an issue with the latter. He requested permission to gain remote access to my computer in order to rectify the situation. My instincts immediately told me this was a ‘dodgy’ call, so I suggested he write to me instead. He assured me he would send an email, but I refused to share my email address, knowing that if it were legitimate, they would already possess that information. So far, I haven’t received any email from them. This certainly feels like a scam… so do tread carefully! Never grant remote access to your device to anyone you don’t trust.
