Got a call just before 10 in the morning on January 26th, 2021. The person said they were representing BT OpenReach. I suspected it was dodgy from the start but decided to humour them to find out their angle. They told me my internet was running slow and asked me to check the speed on a real website. I fibbed and claimed my download speed was 207 Mbps. They didn’t even blink at that number, just said they’d connect me to someone else who’d “fix” the issue.
