I received a rather peculiar phone call from a gentleman with an accent who insisted he was ringing on behalf of some telephone preference service. I can assure you, that's a dodgy number for sure! The caller introduced himself as Danny, but I have my doubts about his authenticity!

I answered with a hello, got a hello back, but then he just hung up. Bit of a shame cos I was just about to hold the phone close to my fire alarm test button and switch it on!

got a call from this number a bit ago, the person said they were with the tps, which i kinda doubted straight away. they went on about renewing my tps to prevent nuisance calls like this one. i told them to stop and said they were lying about being from tps. ended up just hanging up and blocking the number. pretty sure it was a scam.

I got a call from this number and it turned out to be a scam, so watch out and don’t give away any personal info. Funny thing is, that’s actually my own number getting used somehow.

I've found out that my phone number is being misused in a scam. It starts with a call claiming to be from BT, promising some sort of discount on calling options, but then they attempt to fish for personal information such as bank account details. The con seems to be targeting areas like Scotland, North Wales, Lincolnshire, Sussex, and Devon. Please, if you receive a call like this, don’t hesitate to hang up! Stay safe out there!

01477533626 is totally a scam. They claimed they were from BT and asked for a one-time payment to 'put an end to 40 or 50' daily nuisance calls. Don't fall for it!

Got a call from someone with a strange accent who immediately asked for me by name. When I asked who they were, they just ended the call. Pretty weird!

Some woman called me saying she was from the Telephone Preference Service and asked for my personal info plus a registration number she'd said I got when signing up. Sounded like a total con to me. Definitely a scam!

Got a call from someone who sounded like they were from abroad, kept asking if I was Mrs Xox - bit annoying really. But as soon as I asked who they were, they just hung up straight away.

This lady said she was from Ofcom and started telling me about cutting my phone bill down to just £9.99 a month. I let her talk for a bit, then when she was about to pass me to someone else to sign up, I quickly looked up the number she was calling from. I let her keep chatting for a while before hanging up and blocking the number. The annoying thing is, these scammers use loads of different numbers, so my block list is getting totally cluttered.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from TPS saying my registration was about to expire the next day and I had to renew it immediately. They asked for my registration number, which I didn’t have, and then said they could verify it using my bank info since I supposedly paid in instalments. I knew TPS is meant to be free, so I told them I'd just sort it online instead. After that, they just hung up on me.

Got a call from some international number, bloke had a strong foreign accent. He told me his name and asked to talk to the account holder about something called telephone preference. Then he claimed the contract we had was finished, which didn’t sound right. When I questioned him, he got a bit stuck and I just hung up. Seemed dodgy to me, like a scam.
