The phone only rang a single time and I never got to respond. I checked the number and after reading the four comments about it, I decided to block it straight away.

I received a call just prior to 3 in the afternoon from a woman with a distinctly British accent, claiming to be representing a firm called Newtech or something similar. When I inquired further without revealing my identity, they abruptly ended the conversation and hung up. Quite odd, really!

I didn’t pick up since it was an unfamiliar number.

The number showed with my usual local code 01472 and since I was waiting to hear back from a local care service, I picked up. But it wasn't them - some bloke who already knew my last name started rattling on about heating bills and saving up to half on costs. I ended the call politely but quickly, feeling it was probably some sort of scam, then immediately blocked the number.
