5 yearsI got a call from some so called ‘Amazon’ saying 299.99 had been taken from my account. They told me to press 1 if I didn’t recognise the charge. So I did, and straight away a woman with a slight Asian accent picked up. I managed to convince her to hang up. It was clearly a scam. Honestly, how do people fall for these? They try to scare you into thinking you’ve been swindled out of £299.99, then if you hand over your bank info, they supposedly refund you. Yeah right. What they really do is drain your bank account as fast as possible.Amazon5 yearsthey claimed to be from amazon, but it's a total scam and a phishing attempt. definitely not safe. best to just ignore it, but if you're feeling cheeky, mess with them by giving fake info like a bogus name, address or bank details and try to keep them chatting as long as possible. it'll keep them busy. heads up though, once the call finishes, they might keep the connection open for like 10 minutes so any calls you make right after could get picked up by them. just waste their time wherever you can.Amazon5 yearsBuilding on what I said earlier, I got a call from someone claiming to be ‘amazon’ asking for £299.99. They don’t hang up properly, they just keep the line open. When you try to ring your bank straight away, the scammers pick up instead, acting like they’re your bank. Next thing you know, you end up handing over all your passwords and account info, and they drain your funds with you still listening. My tip? Give them a blast with a loud, old-school police whistle down the phone to really throw them off.AmazonSubmit Your Own Report (01469 269177)
