My phone number isn’t listed anywhere, and I hardly ever receive calls on it since it's reserved solely for emergencies and outgoing communication. Got a call from a number I didn’t recognise, even though I’ve mates in Scotland. As soon as the answerphone kicked in, they just hung up. Blocking the number’s useless since they’ll probably ring from another one anyway! Gave the details to TPS and BT, total waste of time!!!

I always let unknown calls go straight to my answerphone, and as soon as it starts ringing, lately, the caller just hangs up. It’s frustrating but not surprise. I’ve heard loads about these scammers popping up with fake UK numbers. It’s all because of VoIP technology now - anyone can pop any number on caller ID, making it so tricky to know if it’s legit. Honestly, OpenReach really ought to step up and find a way to show the actual number behind these calls.
