I received a call regarding a road accident claim, but I suspect it’s a phishing scam. I'm quite baffled as to how they managed to get hold of my number.

I've had two phone calls from this local number — one I let ring and the other I picked up. There was quite a bit of commotion in the background, reminiscent of family chaos. A gentleman introduced himself as Jaimie, claiming to be with an accident management firm. He proceeded to tell me that he had a file suggesting I'd been in a car collision. I informed him that I hadn't experienced any such incident, to which he promptly apologised and assured me he'd take me off his list. Quite peculiar, if you ask me!

I recognise the area code as being quite local, but I've no idea who this number belongs to.

I tried returning the call, but was met with an answering machine. The accent struck me as suspicious, so I figured it was likely a scam. The message went something like, "Your call matters to us, please hold," but sounded quite foreign.
