In the last fortnight, I've been inundated with calls from a number that simply displays 'Hitchin' on my screen, often multiple times a day, even across the weekend. If I don’t recognise the number, it’s getting swiftly ignored. But today was one of those days, I decided to pick up the phone. I greeted the caller and waited a fair few seconds, expecting to be connected to somebody. Instead, a voice on the other end eventually croaked, "Is that you?" I shot back, "Who are you?" The response was, "EE. Can you please confirm your date of birth and either your email or home address?" I couldn't help but wonder, "Why on earth should I do that?” She insisted it was to verify my identity. I replied, “I don’t need to confirm anything! You called me, and I don't even have an account with EE, nor do I know why you’re trying to reach me. I’ll be reporting this to the police.” Interestingly, my partner has received the same mysterious call from 'Hitchin' as well, and she's chosen to ignore it just like I have. We’re both not customers of EE in any shape or form. Moreover, we’ve had various other unsolicited calls from different numbers popping up. It’s quite alarming to see these charlatans mentioned on this site as well, including so-called charities. Talk about lowlifes! Cheers for sharing this information here. It’s been quite helpful! 👍😁
