If you’re with BT, you should definitely check out their free CALL PROTECT feature. Since I signed up, my phone’s hardly been ringing with those annoying calls. It activated within an hour of signing up online, and it’s really easy to set up and tweak to your liking. Honestly, it’s been brilliant and I’d seriously suggest giving it a try.

I got a call from this number supposedly from some dodgy eco home company. The woman on the line asked if I’d got a voucher, but I cut her off and asked how they’d got my phone number in the first place. She said something about a "national database", which I’d never even heard of. When I pressed her on which database it was and where they actually got my details from, she just went silent and then hung up. Definitely dodgy behaviour.

Just after midday, a man rang me saying he was from something called the National Home Efficiency Centre and asked if I'd got a £500 voucher. I told him I’d already used it all on gin and ended the call. Then, about five minutes later, another call came through from 01234339686 - no one spoke. I noticed this number’s marked as dodgy here too. I reckon both calls were from the same scammer. Watch out!

Just like a few others, my BT 8610 managed to block the call without a hitch. Ever since we got that phone a few years back, the place has been so much more peaceful.

Got a call at about half four today from some bloke saying he was with the Energy Support Centre. When I asked him who had told him to ring me, he just said they’re calling 'everyone around here'. I then asked why he was cold-calling me and all he said was that he’d already told me. Not the sharpest tool in the shed but still a right pain in the neck.

Apparently, the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) says there’s no such thing as a Window Scrappage Scheme at the moment, national or otherwise. So it’s definitely a con. If you manage to get on the phone with them, maybe bring up the GGF. Could be enough to put them off and get them to leave you alone!
