11 yearsSo today I got a ring from some bloke named Shaun saying he was an IT guy from Microsoft and wanted me to turn on my computer. I wasn’t having any of it and told him exactly what I thought!ShaunMicrosoft11 yearsThis was definitely a scam. Some bloke called me saying there was a problem with my computer! The guy sounded really full of himself. I pretended to go along with it for a while, but honestly, do they really think anyone's dumb enough to just turn their PC on and hand over personal info like that? What a joke!11 yearsGot a call from this number but when I answered, there was no reply.11 yearsGot a call from an Asian guy asking for someone who definitely wasn’t me. I told him he’d dialled the wrong number. After reading through these reviews, I’ve just decided to block the number completely.11 yearsI tried explaining that I was having issues with my computer, but when I said I didn't own one, they asked if I had a laptop instead. I told them I didn't have that either, so I couldn’t figure out why they were ringing me. Then they just ended the call!11 yearsOn the 20th of August 2015, around midday, I got a call from a woman with an Asian or Indian accent saying she was from Microsoft Tech support. She wanted to speak to me by name and asked to talk to the primary user of the computer. Since my number is unlisted and has been on the Preferential Telephone Services list for nearly two decades, I was instantly suspicious. So I played dumb and told her to say the company's name again so I could jot it down, as I tend to forget things quickly. Oddly enough, the call went silent and then she just hung up.Microsoft TechPreferential Telephone Services11 yearsGot a call at 17:50 on 20/08/2015 about something to do with a mallard on my computer. This isn’t the first time I’ve had this kind of call. I told the person they were talking nonsense, and they just said, "Oh, so I’m talking rubbish, am I?" After that, I just hung up.11 yearsJust got a call this evening at 6:06pm from the number 01457852976. It was a guy with an Indian accent claiming to be from my company's IT department, telling me I had some kind of virus or malware on my computer. When I asked which company exactly, he just repeated it was my IT company, no specifics. Then, when I inquired about the type of virus and which operating system it targeted, he said something about a “bot net virus” - which made me chuckle because that’s not how those things work, it’s a botnet attack caused by outdated or unpatched malware on someone's PC. I then asked if it affected Unix or Linux systems and he got a bit hesitant, quickly apologising and saying sorry for bothering me. Before hanging up, I tried once more to get his company name and his own name, but all I got back was "Goodbye, have a nice day" and the line went dead. Pretty obvious scam if you ask me.11 yearsPicked up the phone, but they just ended the call straight away. I've decided to block this number now.Submit Your Own Report (01457 852976)
