A couple of posts down this thread (around 7 or so) break down exactly what this scam is all about, how you can report these dodgy calls, and why chatting with a scammers is risky. Just saying "yes" or going on for more than three seconds could open a whole can of trouble. So be careful!

Got a call from some scammer saying I could claim money for cars I've supposedly had, but I don't even have a car. Just ended the call and blocked them straight away.

Got a call from a bloke with a proper British name but sounded like he was from India. Said he wanted to talk about some dodgy car finance deal linked to my old car and even had the car’s registration number. Thing is, I paid for the car myself so there was no finance to mess up. Ended up just hanging up on him.

Got a call about claiming compensation, sounded dodgy to me. Definitely a scam, so I just blocked the number and reported it straight away.

I got a call from what said it was PCP call centre but it’s definitely not based in the UK. They already had my full name plus car registration details which was a bit creepy. When I told them to send the compensation via cheque cause I don’t feel safe giving out my bank info, the guy just cut the call. Honestly, this is probably the seventh version of this phone number I’ve thrown on my block list over the past few weeks. Ridiculous.

Got a call but no one spoke, just silence. Felt like one of those automated calls trying to find out if someone picked up.

Got a call from someone about a PCP finance deal on my car, which I never signed up for. They obviously had my name and my reg number. I kept them talking for a bit but never actually confirmed anything. When I asked how they got the info about this supposed finance deal and requested they send me a cheque for the "compensation," they just ended the call.

Answered the phone and could tell straight away it was from a call centre because of all the noise in the background. The person who spoke had an Asian accent, greeted me by my first name, then just cut off the call. EE labelled the number as maybe being a nuisance caller. Seems like it was probably some sort of harassment.

It really felt like one of those call centres, but nobody said a word.

The phone just went quiet and then cut off. Probably one of those automatic systems checking if you’re there - sounds like a scam call to me.

Got a call on my TPS listed phone line, but the number showed up as a Glossop one - weird! I'd never have guessed Glossop had some Indian call centre operating there. The service provider was listed as Net-Work Internet Ltd or something like that, which I've never heard of before. The person on the other end had all the usual noisy call centre background sounds going on and said it was about a finance claim I supposedly was mis-sold. Since I don't have any claim like that, I just ended the call straight away.

Most likely a scam operation based somewhere in South Asia.

Was on the phone with this number and they just dropped the call after like 2 seconds of me staying quiet. Seems like the usual scammer tactic, if you don’t speak, they cut out. Probably some auto system just waiting for you to say something to react to.

My phone flagged the number as possible spam, so I just ignored the call and didn’t pick up.
