Then I dialled 1471 to check the last number that rang me - it turned out to be a mobile. I rang it back and a voicemail said it was Stuart’s line. Watch out, this scammer Stuart is from Birmingham and his number's 07595598505.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Virgin Media saying there were devices linked that I didn’t recognise. They didn’t ask for any ID and just went ahead speaking to someone who isn’t even on the account. When I asked them to prove who they were, they got a bit defensive. The person sounded Indian and was speaking really fast. Definitely a scam.

Some bloke called me claiming to be Stuart from Virgin Media, based in Birmingham, asking for my card info. I just hung up straight away. Then I checked the last number that called me by dialling 1471, and it was a mobile number. When I rang it back, it answered saying it was Stuart’s line and told me to leave a voicemail! Watch out, the scammer goes by the name Stuart in Birmingham, phone number 07595598505.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from an Indian call centre saying my wifi had a virus or something. They kept pushing me to buy some iPhone, iPad or Android device. I told them if there really was a problem, I’d just call Virgin myself later since it was only 8am and they normally don’t phone before 9. After that, I just ended the call. Total scam, no doubt!

It was ages before anyone even answered when I picked up. I could hear what sounded like a whole lot of clucking like a chicken shed, but they said they were from Virgin Media. Their script was rubbish - something about interference messing with my internet connection. Pretty obvious they’ve figured out I’m not with BT. He wanted me to download an app and then asked for an 8 digit code. Wouldn’t confirm his ID or even bother to say my name, felt really dodgy. When I was reluctant, he started getting annoyed and raised his voice because I wouldn't give him the code. Definitely felt like a scam to me.

I had a similar experience recently. This bloke called claiming to be from Virgin Media, insisting that my internet had been compromised. When I asked for his name, he hesitantly said ‘Jack.’ I pressed him for a surname, and after a bit of a pause, he finally came up with ‘Wills.’ When I inquired which department he worked in, he had the audacity to inform me that Virgin Media operates internationally, as if I’d somehow missed that fact! I just had a rather dodgy call from someone claiming to be with Virgin Media, purporting to be a tech support representative. They were rattling on about my internet speed being sluggish, which it absolutely isn't. Then, the chap asked for access to my devices, and I flatly refused-there’s no way I’d let him anywhere near my tech! He huffed and abruptly ended the call. To top it off, I noticed the number he called from belongs to someone else entirely, a fellow Virgin customer. Shouldn’t I consider reporting this to the police? It wouldn’t take them long to trace where this call originated from, would it?

I just received a rather dubious call from an Indian gentleman claiming he was from Virgin Media, alerting me to some alleged internet hacking issues with my computer. He bombarded me with a myriad of questions, and in a cheeky moment, I outright fibbed, saying I had Virgin TV. To my surprise, he didn’t bat an eyelid at that. Curiosity got the better of me when I inquired about my name, to which he was utterly stumped. If he were genuinely representing Virgin, surely he’d have that information at his fingertips. After a good fifteen minutes of this back-and-forth, he finally admitted defeat and wished me farewell. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, a quick way to throw them off is simply to ask them to confirm your name!
