This morning my dad got a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC, saying they were giving him a refund. It was strange timing because he'd just paid his Self Assessment online a few days ago. The woman, who had an accent that sounded Asian, seemed like she was going to ask for his bank info, but when he started asking about the assessment he’d just done, she just hung up.

I picked up the phone and there was a weird silence for a bit, which already made me think it was a scam. Then a bloke with an Asian accent asked if I was xxx, but used my wife's name, which was wrong. I told him no straight away and he hung up. About an hour later the same number rang again, but I didn’t bother answering. Also, a few days back, someone called claiming I’d won the Post Code Lottery, which is weird because I’ve never entered it.

I received a telephone call from this number, targeting an elderly woman, ostensibly about her washing machine insurance. They claimed that they had overcharged her and were looking to refund the excess amount. In her confusion, she ended up sharing her bank details, including her account number and sort code. Now she’s understandably anxious about the whole affair. Thankfully, the number has been flagged to the fraud department and her bank has been informed.

Even tho I’m on the TPS, they keep ringing me up. Today, some woman with an Asian accent said she was from HMRC, sounded like she was calling from some call centre. When I asked who it was, she insisted it was HMRC. I just told her she was a scammer and hung up straightaway. Totally pointless these calls keep coming!

Absolutely, I've experienced the same sort of call myself! They claimed to be offering a refund for supposed tax overpayments - quite rich considering that the overpayment they referenced was from way back in 2008, linked to my late mother's partner who passed away in 2003. It's quite perplexing how they even stumbled upon his name, isn't it? And I can't help but ponder why they don't employ clearer speakers; it would certainly make the whole communication process a lot less baffling!

Received a call from someone claiming to be regarding my PPI claim, but I've never actually put in a claim for PPI! This is clearly a scam.

Once more, I've received a call in a string of them over the past week, including some from a different number, all purporting to be from HMRC regarding a supposed tax refund. The first call mentioned a rebate that struck me as utterly far-fetched, leading me to cut the conversation short. The most recent caller tried the same spiel about a tax refund but abruptly terminated the call when I began probing with some unexpected queries. Please, for your own safety, do not divulge any financial or personal information to these callers.

Called, but didn’t say a word before hanging up.

I can say with certainty that this outfit is nothing more than a scam.

I missed the call earlier and rang 1471 to see who it was. Then I looked up the number 01452223926 on this site and it seems like it’s just another scam call. It came through on my landline.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC saying they wanted to take tax out of a PPI refund I got. Luckily, I do my own self assessment so all my tax stuff was already sorted, and that’s when I realised it was a scam.

Got a call this morning around 8.06am from someone claiming to be with HMRC, saying I was due a refund. Then he handed me over to a “manager” called Ruby, who asked for my bank details and card info. They even seemed to know my address! I’d just woken up and couldn’t quite make out everything, so I told them I couldn’t find the info right now and they said they’d ring back in an hour. After hanging up, I checked the number 01452223926 on 1471 and it definitely looked dodgy. Sounds like a classic scam, be careful! The guy had a bit of an African accent, from what I could tell.

Had loads of calls from this number and quite a few others too. Proper annoying and feels like harassment at times. Really fed up with it all.
