Had some people calling claiming to be from Windows support, kept ringing for weeks. When I told them I wasn't interested, she just ended the call. Honestly getting really tired of it now.

As soon as I picked up, they hung up on me. I’ve been inundated with calls from this lot on various numbers. What a bother!

Like many others here, I got a call from someone saying they were 'Windows tech support'. Total con! I’ve already reported it to the ICO and TPS. Don’t fall for it.

I received a rather dubious call earlier today from a lady claiming that there were multiple viruses on my computer. Naturally, I was not inclined to invite her into my personal space and jokingly informed her I was living in an Amish community. This seemed to unsettle her, and she promptly hung up! Turns out the call originated from Gloucester, in the United Kingdom. It's crucial to steer clear of these callers, as they’ll spin a yarn about countless non-existent viruses on your machine, all in a bid to persuade you to download software like TeamViewer or some other remote access programme. Their aim? To burrow into your computer and fish for sensitive information like banking details or anything else they can pilfer. A cheeky tactic might be to respond by saying you’re tech support for Apple; it’ll be amusing to see their reaction!

I simply suggested he should follow the same path and find himself a decent job, just as I did. After that, he cut the call. Can't fathom why he'd do that! Cheers, Roger

A guy with an Indian accent finally spoke after waiting a bit. I was quite blunt with him, but he actually ended the call before I could.

I've received calls from these folks multiple times now. I usually play along with their little game, and when they inquire about what my screen shows, I like to tell them, "The person on the line is attempting to con you; you ought to hang up!" It’s quite amusing, as they always seem to disconnect promptly after that! 😂

Had about half a dozen calls in just three days, and they're all dead silent. Seriously starting to irritate me these constant silent calls.

Oh, here we go with Windows support once more! The initial lady I spoke to was incredibly difficult to understand due to her fractured English, so she handed me over to her supervisor. They both chattered away for what felt like eternity, completely ignoring me at times! When I inquired about which version of Windows I was running-seeing as they claimed to have such an insight into my computer-the response was that it wasn’t relevant because, apparently, my machine was crawling with viruses and needed urgent attention! How ridiculous is that?

Just like many other comments I've seen, these blokes claimed to be from the Windows technical support. I mentioned that my computer was with the manufacturer for repairs (which is indeed accurate). They then inquired if I was near my computer so they could eliminate some supposedly harmful viruses! Interestingly, they also contacted my 87-year-old mother, who doesn’t own a computer, under the pretense of offering her similar 'expert assistance'. To be honest, Microsoft’s support has always been lackluster at best, and the idea that they would personally reach out to assist individual users is utterly ridiculous!

Got a call that was dead silent on the other end, no one spoke at all. Quite annoying!

A caller claimed to be from Windows technical support, saying they could fix all the glitches on my computer. I quickly figured out it was a scam and pretended to turn my PC on. After five minutes of it still not starting up, I confronted them about the scam. Oddly enough, the bloke insisted I keep trying to boot it up and follow some script he had. When I pointed out that I wasn’t exactly an IT expert, he insisted I stick to their instructions. I then informed him that my machine runs on Linux, hence their commands wouldn’t be effective - yet he still urged me to give it a go. Unbelievable!

I got a call from 01452147511 from a woman claiming there was an issue with my computer. I asked her which computer she meant, and she replied by asking how many computers I own. I told her, "If you rang me, you must already know how many computers I have." She then claimed there was a virus on it. When I questioned who told her about the problem, she just hung up on me quite abruptly. These scam callers are so annoying - anyone know how to block them for good?

This number appears to be dodgy, as it doesn’t show up as valid when I press 3 after dialling 1471. I had a rather amusing chat with 'Christine' for about ten minutes, as she insisted there were issues with my computer. Upon questioning her about the potential con, she abruptly hung up on me-so naive of me to think we were chums! Perhaps she’ll give me another bell.

So this bloke called me up sayin he was from Windows tech support, all official like. I mean, Windows doesn’t just ring you outta nowhere - getting proper help from them is a nightmare, trust me, I’ve tried loads of times. Even if they did call, how on earth would they know you’re using Windows or where they got your number? The clue’s in the accent anyway, usually sounds like it’s from India, not Europe or America. I told the lass on the phone I had her number and was about to report it to the cops. She just told me to go ahead and then hung up. Absolutely disgusting.

"Greetings! I'm Gupta, and I'm reaching out from Windows Tech Support..."

Let's be clear, Windows doesn't operate a "technical support" line that gets in touch with you out of the blue (believe me, trying to get actual assistance from Windows feels like searching for a needle in a haystack). Moreover, if they did have such a service, ponder this: how would they even be aware of your Windows usage, or more importantly, how on earth did they obtain your contact details?

The telltale sign is the accent. It's seldom British or American. I informed this woman on the line, who had a distinctly Indian accent, that I held her number and was planning to alert the authorities. She simply instructed me to proceed and abruptly cut the call.

Utter nonsense!

I received a curious call moments ago from someone claiming to represent the Microsoft virus team. Here’s the kicker: I picked up the phone, introduced myself with the name of the IT firm I’m employed at, and even from their registered number! Yet, the bloke just ploughed straight on with his scripted spiel. What a right plonker!

I've just received a rather odd call. There was nothing but silence on the line, followed by a curt "Goodbye." As I'm unlisted, it seems likely that it was some sort of automated dialler attempting to fish for real phone numbers. I fear this might signal the beginning of a delightful barrage of calls from far-off places, all eager to help me with dubious computer support, pushy boiler sales, or dubious insurance services! What a delightful prospect! :D

I received a call today from someone claiming to be John, supposedly from Windows Technical Support, and he insisted that he needed to discuss my computer. I asked him which operating system I was using, and he confidently replied that it was a Mac! It clearly didn't occur to him how bizarre that was-him representing Windows while I clearly wasn't on a Mac (which I actually don’t possess). I ended up telling him to clear off and quit bothering me with this nonsense.
