7 yearsSome bloke with an Indian accent rang up pretending to be from British Gas, our so-called supplier (which we never are). He said we’d run out of contract and offered a “great deal”. When I told him we don’t have British Gas, he then asked who our provider was, and said he’d forward our details to them in case of any emergencies. I tried dropping hints that he was just wasting his breath, but he kept going until eventually he gave in. Definitely not the smartest scam I’ve come across.British Gas7 yearsHe said it was some kind of ‘emergency’ and wanted to speak with the manager right away. From what I heard, it seemed like he was in a car with the window down. He refused to give any name or info. When I asked what my role was, he threatened to report me for not putting him through.7 yearsi reckon n power is a complete rip off, total scam if u ask me!N Power7 yearsI've been getting calls repeatedly from people claiming to be British Gas, saying my contract is ending soon - but they had the wrong date, which I never actually mentioned. They tried pushing me to agree to terms by reading them out over the phone. When I asked for the account number, they just rattled off some nonsense quickly, hoping I'd not catch it. If you ask them to say it again, they just hang up. Definitely scams. Best thing is either just drop the call or mess with them a bit to waste their time.British Gas7 yearsA man with an Indian accent called me, saying he was with British Gas, but it was obviously a con. When I asked for a name to continue, he just started shouting out loads of different names with no sense at all. Total scam, don't trust it.British Gas7 yearsGot a really unpleasant bloke pretending he worked for British Gas. I passed him on to whoever handles our gas bills, and then he began rattling off a bunch of numbers to try and convince us he was legit. The terrible background noise - like he was stood next to a busy motorway or something - totally gave him away. Don’t share any details with these types. I told him to take us off his call list and just ended the call.British Gas7 yearsThis caller said they were from British Gas, but they were really vague and quite impolite. When I asked them stuff, they tried to avoid giving any straight answers.British Gas7 yearsGot loads of calls from someone saying they were from Swalec or SSE, telling me my contract was ending soon. Definitely a scam - they had the wrong name on the account and stuff. They give you a supply number that’s on your bill to sound legit, but it’s actually a bit dodgy. Rang SSE to ask how they knew that number, and they said it’s easy to find online since it relates to your general area, not your actual home. So be careful!Swalec7 yearsthis bloke rang me from some foreign number but said he was from british gas trying to talk to the manager. when i asked where he was calling from, he just said british gas. he claimed the contract was ending and wanted to discuss renewing it. we don't even have british gas, so it was clearly a con. never share your personal details, they’ll misuse them for sure. i dont understand why these calls aren’t banned yet.British Gas7 yearsI got a call from a woman with an accent who said she was from BT. She demanded to talk to our manager but wouldn’t explain what it was about. I told her to send an email instead and then just hung up on her.BT7 yearsHad some brokers call me up, clearly just looking to fish for info so they can sign me up with suppliers that make them a tidy commission, usually with pricier deals. Honestly, best thing is to keep quiet and not give them anything to work with.7 yearsI've been getting loads of texts saying my internet's gonna be disconnected soon. They say they're from TalkTalk's tech team, but I'm not sure if it's legit or just a scam.TalkTalkSubmit Your Own Report (01450 432397)
