The message warned that my internet service would be cut off for a period of 24 to 48 hours due to some alleged 'illicit activities' originating from my IP address. I was prompted to hit 1 to connect with an advisor or 2 for a senior manager. Naturally, I refrained from doing either. Honestly, the most questionable thing I engage in online is perusing the news. I can't shake the feeling that had I pressed one of those options, I’d have been bombarded with attempts to extract my personal information for some unsavoury purpose.
