Got a call earlier today from a woman, sounded like she might've been Asian, with loads of noise in the background, like kids laughing and cars passing by. She greeted me with my surname, which surprised me, then claimed to be from Amazon security. She said there was a problem charging my account and sending my order. She asked for my card details, account number, and the first line of my address to verify everything. I replied politely that I don’t have an Amazon account at all. After that, the line went dead.

Got a call from a woman claiming she was from Amazon, asking me to confirm my account details or they wouldn't deliver a package. I told her I never order anything from Amazon. The voice rang a bell though, so I looked back in my calls and realised it was the same lady who phoned me some time ago about Everest double glazing, checking if I was happy with their service from 2019. She was trying to update my info and push a summer sale with discounts if I paid now. I told her I’ve never had Everest double glazing at my place, thanked her, and ended the call.

It’s a pity you can’t track down their addresses, the government really needs to step in and sort this mess. But nope, they won’t do a thing! Meanwhile, they hound you constantly about your income and road tax as if that’s all that matters.

I reckon I received a call from what seemed to be an Indian call centre. They utterly butchered my name, so I decided to cut the conversation short and hang up!

The caller asked for the person living at the address after somehow already knowing my name! They were speaking with a really strong Asian accent, and I could barely understand a word. It sounded like something about national IT or some sort of tech service. Didn't want any of it though, so I told them off and ended the call. If you're with BT, you can dial 1572 to block the last caller for free - it's pretty handy.

Cheers to everyone for sharing their thoughts - when i answered the phone it was just dead quiet after i said hello. Tried looking up who owns this landline in hemel hempstead but no luck so far. If i find anything out, i’ll update here. If it’s not some official gov lot, they really should be reported!! People are completely fed up with all these scam calls, it’s only getting worse and needs to be sorted. Phone companies, networks and businesses have got to team up to catch these scammers and shut them down at the source.
