Phone number ☎️ 01442422929 👆 is reported as a persistent and sophisticated scam impersonating HSBC, often using the bank's official overseas lost and stolen card contact number to appear legitimate. Callers claim to be from HSBC’s fraud prevention team, cite suspicious transactions, and pressure victims to share personal, banking, or security details, sometimes encouraging fund transfers to new accounts. They display knowledge of customers’ personal information, making it more convincing. HSBC confirms these calls are fraudulent and advises never to provide details or follow instructions from such callers. Genuine HSBC rarely contacts customers directly this way. Recipients are urged to hang up immediately, block the number, verify any concerns by calling HSBC using official numbers only, and report suspicious calls to prevent financial loss.

Scam. Someone said he was from HSBC. He had my name and number, so he’s got my info somehow. He said there were two big Amazon purchases flagged as suspicious. Said he was checking if they were fraud. Claimed their system caught it and that a new credit card would be sent. Asked me for my details but when I refused and said I’d ring the bank, he just hung up.

HSBC confirmed this is a total scam. They say they have info about your card and warn of unauthorised transaction, trying to stop money being taken out. They also ask if you’ve used other banks or dealt with cryptocurrency. When I tried calling back, the call didn’t connect properly but then I got voice prompts that sounded just like HSBC’s, asking for stuff like sort code, account number and security details. Never give personal info, always use the number on the back of your bank card to report fraud or anything suspicious.

My other half just got a rather dodgy call from 01442422929, claiming to be Hamel Hampstead. Initially, my partner was a bit sceptical, but the caller insisted he represented HSBC, even stating that his number matched the one on the back of our card - quite the clever ruse, if you ask me! I received a call from someone claiming to be from HSBC, just like many others have mentioned. They were ringing me up concerning a transaction on my card that seemed a bit dodgy. They bombarded me with numerous questions about my account balances and other details. Something about the call didn't sit right with me, so I decided to end the conversation and reached out to HSBC's fraud department directly. Absolutely bonkers scam! They're using the HSBC number to ring you from overseas about lost or stolen cards (had it saved in my contacts, so I presumed it was legit).
They'll don the guise of the HSBC fraud team, fishing for details about your account balance.
Then they attempt to shift your funds into a different account. It struck me as decidedly fishy, so I ended the call post-haste. Now that I've looked it up, it seems they’ve tried this same ploy on others too!

Beware of this dodgy number! They’re purporting to be from HSBC Bank, saying there’s been some sort of suspicious activity linked to your account, possibly an attempt to withdraw funds or set up a new standing order. They'll tell you that a new debit card is on its way and that your sort code will have to change. Next thing you know, they’re fishing for your current card details. My son's phone got a call from this number. The caller said they were from HSBC and mentioned that someone tried to use his bank card in Manchester, spending £954.00. Then the line suddenly cut off. Heads up, everyone! There are some crafty con artists out there targeting HSBC customers. They've somehow managed to spoof the number 01442422929, which is actually the overseas line listed on the back of your HSBC debit card. When they ring you up, they'll claim to be from HSBC's fraud investigation team, insisting that there's suspicious activity on your account that they've thwarted. Then, they’ll spin a tale about needing to close your current account and supposedly setting up a new one in your name. Their next move? They’ll ask you to log into your online or mobile banking to transfer your funds from your old account to this alleged new one. Don’t fall victim to this ruse-I ended the call and contacted HSBC directly, who confirmed it’s a scam. What’s unnerving is how much personal information they had about me-they mentioned my name, address, and even where I opened my account with HSBC. Stay vigilant!

Had this scam bunch hack into my Google account, now they’re attempting to grab my card info. No way that’s happening though, I’ve already blocked everything.

Last night I got a call from a number linked to S#### again, but this time with a US area code. It’s the same one that’s been buzzing me all week. I picked up the second time and stayed silent for a bit, hearing nothing back, so I asked, "What’s this about?" Some muppet started with "HSBC lost or stolen card" nonsense. I told him to jog on, and he responded with “#### you”. I just hung up and had a good laugh. Proper scumbag, probably trying to pinch your cash.

Absolute scam, I wouldn’t bother trying to chat with them at all.

01442422929 ##SCAM ALERT## Got a call from someone saying they’re with HSBC Fraud, telling me they stopped a £3,000 payment to someone like A Mohammed? Likely your details got snatched when you clicked a dodgy link in a text asking to approve or cancel a payee setup. Like others have said, the aim is to trick you into moving money from your account to a fraudster’s one. Best thing is to just end the call properly and then ring HSBC using the number on your card to check everything’s legit.

They claimed to be from HSBC's fraud department but then started asking me weird questions about when I last had s####. Totally off-putting experience.

I fell victim to a con involving this number. They seemed to have an unsettling amount of information about me and my dealings with HSBC. They even knew my account details, security questions, and transaction codes. Thankfully, I was able to spot the dodgy behaviour before they could complete the transaction. It’s alarming how cunning these scammers have become. Coming from a background in the police, I never imagined I'd be duped like this!

Some bloke rang me saying he was from HSBC, asking if I'd given the go-ahead over the phone to send £4000 to some Mr Mohammed. When I told him I wasn’t interested in setting up any new security accounts or moving my cash, he kept pressing me on the reason why.

Got a call from 01442 422929 claiming to be HSBC, saying there was some dodgy debit on my account. They started asking for my security info, so I immediately hung up. Total scam. If you get this call, just ignore it and report it straight to HSBC.

I got a call from this number and it turned out to be a smishing attempt. Although it’s linked to HSBC UK’s overseas lost and stolen department, the bank itself doesn’t ring you from this number. Plus, they never ask you to transfer money or share any verification codes over the phone. Be careful!

This is definitely a scam related to banks. I got a text supposedly from HSBCuk saying I had to deactivate a payee I'd never set up, and the link looked exactly like the real bank login page. After that, they phoned me and pretended to be checking things out, asking me for even more bank info to confirm. Total fraud, watch out!

This is pure rubbish! I received a message from what said it was HSBC, claiming I’d just added a new payee I didn’t know and asking me to make a transfer. Definitely dodgy, watch out! I’ve already reported it straight to HSBC.

Got a call from this number recently, a very courteous man with a black accent saying he was from HSBC's fraud team. He said my current account had been hacked and wanted me to create a new one. It sounded pretty convincing since the phone showed an official HSBC number, which he mentioned to make it seem legit. Pretty smart move. I reckon their plan was to get my credit card info and move money over to the new account. Luckily, I caught on quickly and called him out before anything else. Just a heads up to stay alert with calls like this.

Ive seen this number listed as the contact for HSBC’s credit and debit card help, especially for reporting lost or stolen cards. Sometimes HSBC calls me for security checks, but it’s never been from this exact number.
