I recently had a rather dodgy encounter with someone who claimed to be from my broadband provider. This charlatan warned me that my internet would be cut off within a day since my IP address was supposedly hacked. He then urged me to hit button 1 if I wanted to avert this so-called disaster.

Received a recorded call claiming to be from my internet supplier but never mentioned any company. They warned me my internet would be cut off within a day and said my IP had been hacked from different countries. They told me to press 1 to talk to a “technician” and get a new IP address. Honestly, do they think I’m daft? How can I have an IP if I’m not even connected? Total scam. Blocked the number straight away.
