(gave 545 a go) - got an automated message about £600 charged for abroad payments. Also had a silent call from that number yesterday. Imagine if someone tried tricks in person to steal your cash, cops might actually pay attention. But when scammers ring up, police just tell you to report it to Action Fraud who basically do nowt. Phone firms and Ofcom just let caller ID spoofing run riot. Bet if these calls cost them real money, they'd act fast.

I own the number 01438724571 and it looks like someone from abroad has cloned it. Like others have said, it's definitely a scam. I’ve already contacted the police fraud department and spoke with my phone company, but there’s not much they can do. My suggestion? Just don’t answer and hang up straight away. It was that recorded message again, so I guess these scammers either switch between different numbers or keep changing them all the time so they don’t get tracked easily. Got a call round 12.55pm on 16/6/20 from the same number twice. The first was an automated message saying there was suspicious activity on my bank card, so I just hung up. Not long after, I got another call from that number, again some robot lady saying there was £600 worth of fraud on my card. I ended the call straight away again.

Loads of people have mentioned getting calls from 01438 724 571 about some dodgy Direct Debit that supposedly takes £600 out to an overseas account, maybe somewhere in Europe. They also want you to press 1 or 2 on your phone. Best advice I can give is don’t press any button, just end the call, block the number and let your phone company know about it.
