Got a call from 01438590128, sounded like an Indian accent. They couldn’t even say my name right and then asked if I was the householder. I said, “How would you know that if you don’t even have my name?” Then they just hung up on me! Proper weird call.

It's quite a curious phone number this one. Although 01438 is supposed to be linked to Stevenage, it doesn't guarantee the caller is actually from there. This kind of thing lets scammers mask where they really are. Just like the previous comment, this caller didn’t leave any voicemail. Maybe they're just seeing how people respond? Seriously, don’t they have anything more useful to do?

A young sounding woman, who had a bit of an East Asian accent, picked up and asked to speak to me or my missus by our last name. I reckon I’ve had a chat with her before. I just told her neither of us were available and hung up straight away (which I kinda wish I hadn’t, usually I leave the phone lying about to keep them talking, but I was distracted this time). I’m planning to report the call to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
