Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent who spoke really bad English, said he was from Sky telecom or somethin'. I just put the phone down, seemed like a total scam to me.

They phoned my elderly mum and really upset her, so she just ended the call. Then they called back saying it was important for her to listen. They claimed someone from the 'Labour Club' was going to take £400 from her bank that evening at 8pm, then they just hung up. Mum spent the whole night worried and couldn’t sleep, trying loads of times to get through to her bank but probably dialled the wrong number so no luck until 10 in the morning. The bank just told her to ignore the scam call and assured her no money had been taken.

I couldnt really make out her foreign accent, but it sounded like she was trying to mention my last name. When I asked who it was, she gave a name, which I still didnt catch. She began with 'I'm calling from' but then paused and changed to 'I can save you money on your life insurance policy.' I told her I wasnt interested, and she hung up straight away. I dont even have a life insurance plan, so I guessed it was just a scam.

Somebody rang saying they were a refund company wanting to give me back some money for overpaying on my washing machine insurance. Problem is, all our home appliances are covered under one single policy, so I straight away knew it was dodgy and ended the call. Thinking back, perhaps I should’ve played along and asked which insurer they reckoned owed me the cash, just to waste their time and stop them bothering someone else.

So, I got a call from someone claiming I was owed a refund for my washing machine insurance. It sounded dodgy straight away but I let it go on for a bit. The caller knew my address but then asked for my sort code, which I didn’t give them. Lucky I didn’t, as apparently this number 01433440012 is linked to Hatheridge in Derbyshire and seems to be dodgy. I got the call at about 12:32pm on Saturday 21st May.

I told them to just put the money back in the same account it came from, but they said they can’t do that because of GDPR and don't keep the info. Someone called pretending to be from BT saying there was suspicious activity on my internet. When i told them it was a con they just cut the call.

A bloke named Mark rang me, going on and on about how he was from BT and that my internet wasn’t private but public. I had exactly the same call yesterday from a different young guy with another number. He said they’ll keep ringing me until I do what they want.

Somebody called me claiming to be from BT, saying my IP address was at risk. They asked me to open a Google page to 'verify my IP address'. When I pointed out that if they could see it was affected, they’d already know my IP, the guy got quite aggressive and I just ended the call. Then they rang back, still pushing. They try to hook you with 'we’re not selling anything'. Don’t get caught out by this!

Somebody pretending to be from BT Openreach called me, asking if I’m the one paying the bill. I asked them who the account was under and they just ended the call straight away!

They claimed to be from HomeServe, saying they wanted to refund money they’d taken by mistake. But then they said they had to delete my card details because of data protection or something. Definitely a SCAM.

Received a dodgy call from someone pretending to be with BT, urging me to verify my IP address. They insisted that it shouldn't be a public one and bizarrely asked me to input some W3C validation file into Google. Clearly trying to seize control of my computer - what a complete scam!

I received a dodgy phone call purporting to be from BT, where the caller asked me to verify my IP address. They insisted that my IP should never be publicly visible and prompted me to enter a w3c validation file in Google, clearly hoping to gain access to my computer. It's a complete scam! The woman on the line, who had an Eastern European accent, identified herself as Anna Demir. Definitely not to be trusted!

I received a rather dodgy call from a lady purporting to be from a refund service. She claimed we’d been overcharged by £190 on our washing machine guarantee! Apparently, they’re eager to send us a refund, but wanted to know which account we prefer for the payment. When I pointed out that since we paid by direct debit, they must have our information handy, she just wouldn’t let up. Eventually, I suggested she sort it with her accounts team and send us a cheque instead. At that point, she abruptly hung up! Quite bizarre, if you ask me.

Got a call from a lady who said she was ringing about my Virgin Media account. Problem is, I don't have Virgin Media at all and the number she called is totally unrelated to Virgin Media. When I told her she was trying a government helpline, the call just stopped!

I received a call from a gentleman with an Asian accent, asserting he was from BT and insisted that my IP address was compromised and required immediate alteration. It felt rather dubious, so I informed him that I would get in touch with BT directly instead. He became rather irate and began to raise his voice, which I found quite off-putting. In the end, I decided to hang up on him.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from Home Serve appliances refund team. The bloke said his name was David Foster and gave me a number to call back on 1800453675 with an ID of 105692, trying hard to seem genuine. When I told him my dad, who he thought I was, had passed away, he just shrugged it off and said it was fine since I'm a family member, so I could still get the refund. Really dodgy if you ask me.
