01431 927 940 - woman with an Indian accent said she was calling from Virgin Media and asked how I was doing, I said "I'm alright" then there was a pause and I could hear what sounded like a busy call centre in the distance, after a bit the caller just ended the call or maybe Virgin Media genuinely cut them off?

It was a woman, sounded like she had an Indian accent, saying she was from BT's security team. She claimed my IP address was at risk and tried to get me to look up an address on Google to check it, saying she could switch it from public to private and renew the licence or something like that. I kept her going for a bit but then she just dropped the call on me.

A bloke with a thick Indian accent rang up pretending to be from BT, claiming my internet was at risk. I told him we don’t use BT and he insisted that broadband security passes through BT. I called him out as a scammer and ended the call. REALLY RISKY.

A bloke with an Indian accent was all cheerful saying he was ringing from BT about the internet. Asked if it was working okay - I said yes, then he asked if I'd seen anything odd recently. I asked if he had a report on problems (cos we haven’t had any). He said yes, lots of complaints lately. Then he asked to speak to the business owner, I said they’re not here and asked for a number to ring back at the office. Next thing, he just hung up while I was still talking! Bit rude, if you ask me!

Someone called saying they were from BT and told me my IP address was vunerable to attacks. I’m not with BT so I looked up the number. She said she was calling from London but her phone number had a Scottish area code. When I questioned her about it she got quite rude and just ended the call.

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent, couldn’t quite catch the company she was from. Said something about a refund for a washing machine warranty. But our washing machine is more than ten years old and we never bought any warranty for it. She asked for my bank details and sort code. When I told her we’d rather have a cheque, she just put me on hold.

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent claiming to be from the refund team at Homecare. Said I’m due £190 back for a washing machine I bought back in Nov 2020. Didn’t give him any of my info, like address or anything. Told him they’ll have to send me something in writing first.

Some bloke called, claiming to be from homecare about a refund for a washing machine warranty. He insisted I wanted a cheque but then asked for my cheque book number! I tried telling him that’s not how cheques work - you just write your name, amount and sign it, then post it out. He snapped back saying they’re a big firm and know how to handle cheques!! Then just told me to “go f*** myself” and cut off. Well, at least I wasted 10 minutes of his time!

Got a call from an Indian woman with a strong accent. She said I was due a refund of £170 for overpaying on my washing machine insurance. Then she asked for my bank sort code and account number. She already had my name, address, and postcode. I told her to send a cheque instead. She insisted on my bank details and then handed me over to a bloke who was really pushy about getting the info. I told him again to send a cheque and ended the call. The same number rang back within 5 seconds. Blocked them straight away. Definitely a SCAM.

Got one of those scam calls claiming I'd get £119 back. Spent a good 4 minutes pretending not to understand, asking them loads of daft questions till they finally got the hint! Honestly, when are the authorities gonna start cracking down on these scammers? With all the calls reported from the same number, surely the tech is there to catch ’em? Come on, government, stop sitting on your hands and actually help us out for once!

Washing machine refund scam again, 3rd time they've called me in just two days using different numbers. Weirdly, the last number (01431927940) actually rings back to them at whatever dodgy overseas call centre they've got. They claimed I’d overpaid on a washing machine warranty and wanted to give me a refund. Asked for me by name and said another caller had my address, but this time the call didn’t go that far. As soon as I said “right” real skeptical like, she just hung up on me lol. The voice sounded Indian / Asian.

Got a call from 01431 927940 claiming to be BT Openreach. When I said the person who handles the phone system wasn’t there, they just said alright and hung up. We've had calls like this at work before, supposedly about our internet not working right. But everything’s fine on our end! Similar calls have come through at home too, where they try to get you to go online. (I never did.) It's obvious they want to sneak into your computer and nick your info. These calls should really be cracked down on - they’re both irritating and risky.

I ignored the call since the number didn’t look familiar, and it went straight to voicemail, but no one left a message. Was waiting on a really important call, and having my phone ring like that nearly caused me to trip down the stairs. These calls come all the time now, from lots of different UK numbers that seem legit. I can’t just block them though, because I need to keep the line open for calls from doctors or hospitals. When will something be done to stop this nonsense happening every day?

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent who said his name was Harry, asking for a David Hunter. I told him he’d got the wrong number. There was this weird pause, and I could hear other people talking quietly in the background. Then, out of nowhere, he asked me what I was up to! I said I was sitting down with my Bible - which I really was, since I’m a minister. I then asked him what he was doing, but before I could get an answer, he just said “have a nice day” and hung up.
