I received a rather mysterious call that I can't quite place-might be yet another pesky spammer, if I'm honest.

I received a phone call from someone supposedly representing an energy firm. He introduced himself as Martin and wanted to know if I was the owner of the property. He then tried to get me to verify certain details, but I wasn't having any of it. He was quite aggressive and rather impolite, to be honest!

I've had this number ring me a few times but they never say anything when I pick up. Since I don't know anyone from Hartlepool that would be trying to reach me, I just reckon it's some sort of spam and don't bother answering.

this guy was pretty pushy, kept saying it wasn’t a cold call! he tried to find out if i owned the house, but i didn’t tell him anything. he claimed the house was using too much energy, so i asked where he got that info from. he just brushed off my question, so i ended the call.

So this guy called Martin rings me up and says right off the bat that it’s not a cold call, but it’s from some energy provider. Then he starts asking for my full name, where I live, and if I own the house. I told him flat out I wasn’t giving any info because it’s a scam call, and I’m reporting both him and the number. He just hung up on me, which pretty much confirmed it was dodgy. I've had tons of calls beginning with 014, all pretending to be from energy companies trying to scam me.

This morning I got two calls from this number but they wouldn’t tell me who they were, which any trustworthy company normally would. So I just blocked it using my call guardian app.

Sounds like one of those energy fraudsters pretending they’re from some official organisation. They always say stuff like “this isn’t a cold call” to try and sound legit. Yeah, technically it’s not a cold call if they've got your number, but honestly, it’s basically still cold calling!

Someone rang me claiming to be from an energy firm, but they rushed through the company’s name so fast I couldn’t catch it. They insisted it wasn’t a cold call and then asked if I was the person who owns the house. As soon as I started to reply, they just ended the call.

Today, 10 May, at 12.23, my phone rang but thanks to the spam blocker I had on, it flagged the caller as ‘likely spam’ right away. Seeing that, I didn’t pick up and went ahead to block the number straight away. Glad for that feature!
