I received a call from the National Hearing Centre today, and it came up on my caller ID as if it were a local Hartlepool number. When I asked the gentleman on the other end why a company supposedly based in Nottingham or Bradford was calling me as if they were local, he didn't have a decent answer. I brought up the topic of the Telephone Preference Service, to which he smugly replied that it doesn’t prevent me from getting ‘helpful calls’. It’s quite irritating that these time-wasting callers can simply bypass the TPS and manipulate their phone numbers to appear as if they’re from around here.

I've received several calls from this individual or organisation, and they keep inquiring about a Mr Hughes. Whenever I ask for their identity, they simply end the call without a word. Quite peculiar, isn't it?
