Today, I received a call from what appeared to be an enthusiastic salesperson on a landline, informing me that I qualified for some sort of government-subsidised loft insulation. He provided an elaborate explanation of how advantageous this offer was and the reasons behind the government's backing of such initiatives. Generally speaking, I’m quite sceptical about complimentary services, so I responded that I’d think it over and reach out when I had a spare moment. After hanging up, I did some digging into the company he claimed to represent, as well as the entire government insulation programme, and came up empty-handed. In the end, I decided to block the number to prevent this trickster from trying their luck again.

Somebody rang me claiming I’d just had loft insulation fitted under a government scheme. Thing is, I haven’t had any work like that done at all. When I asked for more details to prove it, they just cut me off. Not exactly shocking, is it?
