Today, I got a call on my landline from someone claiming to be a salesman saying I qualify for free loft insulation funded by the government. He went on about why this was such a great offer and the reasons behind the government funding it. I’m usually quite doubtful about “free” things, so I told him I’d ring back if I was interested. Later on, I tried to look up the company he mentioned and any official government scheme like that, but couldn’t find a trace of either. To be safe, I’ve blocked the number now in case they try to call again with the same spiel.

Somebody rang me claiming I’d just had loft insulation fitted under a government scheme. Thing is, I haven’t had any work like that done at all. When I asked for more details to prove it, they just cut me off. Not exactly shocking, is it?
