I called Something Electrical Services and got an automated voice saying there was no one available to take my call. Then it just disconnected on me. I've added the number to my blacklist now.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from BT, asking me to switch on my laptop so they could connect to it. I told them they must take me for a fool and asked them not to ring me again. Guess they'll just try phoning me on another number now, since I've blocked all those other 01427 numbers already.

I use an answerphone to handle my calls now. The recorded message explains we don't pick up because of all the cold calls. Folks can leave a message and I promise to ring back. Usually, family and mates either text me or call my mobile instead. If I hear someone leaving a message, I'll usually pick up straight after. It’s quite effective but still gets a bit wearing since I end up with about 10 calls every single day!

They kept ringing me non stop. So I decided to call back! Total scammers! I could hear a kid crying in the background. A guy with a strong northern accent called Jade and was really suspicious when I mentioned some ‘gov scheme’ about replacing boilers and storage heaters. Told them I had neither (which is true). Bit of a joke - it’s meant to be some government thing, but they’re cold calling illegally. Honestly, this feels dodgy and possibly dangerous since it’s clearly a scam.

Honestly, these calls dont annoy me much anymore. Ive had so many that Ive just stopped picking up. When the call ends, I dial 1471 to see who rang, and if it’s someone I know, I call them back. Feels good knowing these jokers are just wasting their time on me. If more folks did the same, maybe these callers would get the hint. But sadly, plenty of easy targets fall for their stuff, which these scammers seem to treat like easy meat for their schemes.
