Got a call from an Indian bloke asking if me or my missus could answer a few questions. When we said no and hung up, the phone rings again straight away, but when I pick up it just goes silent. Seems like they hang up if I answer the next time, but if my wife picks up it’s the same spiel all over again. We’re on the TPS, so this feels like just another annoying nuisance call to us.

I get calls almost everyday from someone asking for a 'Mr or Mrs Neald', depending on who picks up. We keep telling them they’re at the wrong number. Usually it’s a bloke with an Indian accent. I've told them loads of times to remove our number from their list but they just keep ringing. My phone rang and when I picked up, there was just silence. It's so annoying - I'm fed up with these constant calls. I can't understand why BT doesn’t do more to block these numbers, since they look like they're from the UK but usually aren’t. Reporting them to the TPS feels like a waste of time, especially since they ask for the caller’s name too as well as the number. With all the tech we have nowadays, it’s shocking how easy it is for these scam calls to keep popping up like a nasty virus.

Received a call from someone with a gentle Asian accent, inquiring about a person named Rosemary-someone we have no connection with whatsoever. Clearly, it seems like spam. I informed them that she has relocated. Got a call from a woman claiming she was from UK Claims and Advisory Group London. She said her name was Carolyn Kelly and gave me a reference number. Then she mentioned her manager would call to verify some info. Sure enough, the manager rang back about ten minutes later and repeated my details. Then he went on about some money I was supposedly owed and out of the blue asked if I could walk! This claims company keeps calling, saying I’m due some money and that their solicitor will come by with a cheque for £3600. But first, I had to go to the post office and pay £360 through MoneyGram for the solicitor’s fee. I told them my line was poor and I couldn’t hear properly, then I hung up. Still, they keep phoning, so now I just ignore my landline. I heard from some tips that they’re sending a form for me to complete, but it could take ages to sort!

I just received a call from a certain Hazel Oemon claiming to be from the Claims Advisory Department based in Central London. Decided to humour her and let her prattle on. She already had my name and address, but was fishing for more personal details. So, I played along and provided a whole heap of nonsense instead - she was none the wiser! If this somehow leads to a hefty cheque landing in my account, I reckon I’ll treat everyone to an extravagant feast! What a dream, right? Ha! The only proper way to tackle these pesky scammers is to rally our MPs and push for legislation that puts an end to unwanted cold calls once and for all. Let’s band together and get those online petitions rolling!

Got a ring from this number earlier, definitely sounded like a call centre. Some bloke said he was John West from the Claims Advisory Board. Since I've been getting loads of these lately, I asked if it was one of those bank holiday scam calls. He suddenly went quiet. Left him hanging in the kitchen, just muttering to himself until he eventually hung up.

I've stopped picking up my landline now. I just look at who called and ring back if it seems important (luckily my calls are free). Most times it's just some pest. I seem to be inundated with calls from this number that I simply refuse to pick up. It’s rather bothersome, particularly when multiple other numbers are also trying to reach me. The sheer volume of calls I receive in a single day can be overwhelming, and it’s almost always the same old scam nonsense. Honestly, I’ve had quite enough of it!

Lately, I’ve been receiving calls from this number and several others that are either blocked or unfamiliar, all purporting to be about some cash that banks supposedly owe me. They claim to be from the ‘Ministry of Justice’, which strikes me as rather dodgy. I urge everyone to report these suspicious calls to Action Fraud at 0300 123 2040. Together, we might just manage to put an end to these scams one day!

Got a call from an Asian bloke claiming he’d refund me bank fees for the UK government. He knew my surname, address and postcode, but didn’t have my first name. Asked me how to say it, and when I told him that’s not needed to send the money, he just swore at me and ended the call.

Another call from an Asian bloke. The way he spoke and his accent were exactly like those you hear when ringing BT about net problems - polite, patient and all that; only he said he was from some daft sounding department that no one would believe was real. From these calls (and I get loads of em), it feels like these guys are just bored in a call centre, probably having a cheeky wank during their break, chatting away to some bloke with a nice voice.

Honestly, I wish they could be caught and taken to court. Just so you know, we're registered with the TPS but they don’t seem to care at all!

Got a call from 01424899233, some guy with an Indian accent claiming I was due a refund. He knew my address and name, which was odd. Then he asked which bank I used, and started probing about mortgages and loans. I didnt give him any details and asked why he needed that info - he said it was needed for the refund. When I refused to share more, he just ended the call. Pretty sure it’s a scam, so I’ve blocked the number now.

At 2.56pm on the 25th of August 2016, an older mate of mine got a call from a bloke with a foreign accent. They asked for bank info, but of course it was declined. If the UK is top notch with its telecoms, you'd think we'd be better at stopping these scammers by now?

Some bloke with an Asian accent rang me asking to confirm my name. He got the surname right, but I just told him to jog on. It was a dodgy call and I was sure it was a scam. After reading up on this site, turns out it was a proper risky call. Luckily, I’m naturally suspicious and don’t trust strangers. But loads of folks, especially older people, might fall for it. I’m on the TPS list (that so-called 'paper tiger'), but it honestly doesn’t help one bit. The TPS is completely pointless.

I recently received a rather dubious call from some rather unsavoury characters, claiming I was owed a sum of £3,000. They were keen to send me a cheque and had the audacity to know my name and address. When they requested my date of birth, I firmly declined, asserting that I recognised their little scheme as nothing more than a scam. I promptly hung up, only for them to ring me back, absurdly asking if I was, in their words, a "whore" and that I’d need to pay to reveal my date of birth. I find it utterly shocking that these individuals can operate without consequence. My heart goes out to those who might fall victim to such nonsense, as they could easily be caught off guard and unwittingly disclose their personal information.

I've had a couple of calls from this number, claiming that I’m entitled to a sum ranging from £3000 to £4000 because the bank has overcharged me for a number of years. Yet, today another individual rang me up, stating that I should expect another call tomorrow morning from someone who needs to confirm that I'm indeed the right person to receive the cheque. Received a rather peculiar phone call from someone claiming to be called James Miller, who spoke with an accent that suggested he wasn't from around here. He mentioned that they had a cheque waiting for me regarding some bank charges I’d allegedly overpaid. The call came from what he described as a claims advisory group, and he was kind enough to provide a reference number to mention when their supervisor rings back in a few hours. Just like the others mentioned, it was one of those bank top-up refund calls. They even offered to go with me to the bank but when I said my family could handle it, they suddenly said they'd send me a letter instead! My daughter joked she wished they'd actually take her to the bank so she could have the cops ready for them!

Got a call today at 16:23 from 01424899233 but missed it. When I rang back, it was a recorded message saying the number 'does not exist', which really makes the BT call blocking system look useless! Funny enough, when I tried to add this number to my blocked list, I had to remove another because I'd hit the limit. One of the blocked numbers was 02079462137, which someone else also mentioned on 23 August. I've blocked them both now.
