I picked up the call and there was silence at first, then a woman asked to talk to a Mrs Smith. I was stunned and told her I had no idea where they got their info since I'd been a widow since ’98, remarried in 2006, and definitely wasn’t Mrs Smith anymore. She said sorry and carried on trying to chat, but I just ended the call.

I just got a call from this number, they asked for me and said I was due £2000 for an accident that supposedly happened two years ago. I mean, sure I had a crash back then, but when I asked for more specifics, the lady got really awkward and said she’d have her supervisor ring me within 15 mins. Of course, no follow-up call ever came through. Pretty fishy if you ask me.

So someone called me around 11 in the morning asking for my wife. I asked who they were and they said they were from a place called Albany Assured. Later, I phoned them back and got a recorded message saying it was just a marketing call, then the line went dead because no one actually picked up.

Got a call around 6 in the evening from this number. I hardly ever pick up my landline, but since the number started with 01424, which is round my way, I thought I’d answer. The bloke first asked for my wife by name, then when I said she wasn’t there, he asked for me. Next thing, he launches into some story about an accident claim I’m apparently making. I told him to get lost and hung up straight away. Looks like these muppets have found a way to make the call seem local now - total pricks.

I told her we hadn’t had any accidents and asked why she was ringing. She then said we might be entitled to some compensation. When I said we weren’t interested in any payouts, she just ended the call abruptly.

Today, I received a call from someone asking for my husband by his name, so I know it wasn’t just a random dial. The caller claimed it was about a recent car accident where someone supposedly crashed into the back of his vehicle. That’s completely false - no accident like that has happened. When I told him this and asked where he got that wrong info from, he just ended the call abruptly.
