Got a call from a recorded voice claiming to be from BT broadband saying my internet had been hacked. I pressed "1" to speak to an engineer, who told me he was based in London. Thing is, the area code “01423” actually belongs to Harrogate, which is miles away. That’s when I realised it was a scam and ended the call.
