It wasnt LV directly, just someone calling for them. The person spoke maybe 5 seconds tops before just cutting the call. Proper unprofessional. Just a heads up, since it was on behalf of LV, they might ring back about something else later on.

01423222138 rang me thrice over the last couple of days. I managed to answer just once. It was some call centre person, Georgie, chatting with someone else and then the call dropped. Couldnt pick up as was tied up but read the replies here, looks like Liverpool Victoria LV Mutual is being taken over by some carpetbaggers from the US. Kinda wish I had answered to share my thoughts on Alan Cook, the boss. I’ve already put my vote against the takeover.

Super safe. It’s ADT Alarms ringing. They’ve got this nationwide security grant 'cause of the rise in burglaries recently. Installation and the alarm gear are totally free, and they give you their latest monitored alarms. If you go ahead with the install, it’s just £1 a day for monitoring and services for 18 months, after that the alarm’s yours free. Really good deal considering other companies I looked at wanted loads more. Plus, it’s a free grant sign-up with no pressure at all - just something to consider more properly.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from ADT security, saying there’s a government scheme to get a new alarm fitted for free, and that it’s linked straight to their security firm so if it goes off, they’ll come check it out. She said more than half of break-ins happen while people are home, and even in daylight, so watch out. Sounded like a friendly northern lady, probably just trying to make a living.

01423222138 rang me today, 14/08/20. They are definitely scammers, they seem to grab your number if you enter some competition on Google. Please warn your mates and family not to put their details in, even if it looks harmless. They keep calling from different numbers and pestering you. I’ve blocked two numbers this week already. I’m thinking of reporting it to the police as it’s becoming harassment. I’m also going to put together a list of all the numbers and get my husband, who works in the police, to help see if we can crack down on these scammers.

Some bloke phoned claiming to be from ADT, offering a free security system. He knew my name and address but didn’t ask for any other details. He asked if I already had a security system, I said yes. Then he wanted to know who by, but I kept quiet. He asked if it was remotely monitored, I said yes. Then if the company or me monitored it, I said both. After that, he said he couldn’t help and just hung up. I called the number back and it was dead silent, didn’t even ring. Feels a bit dodgy!

I told him I've already got CCTV all around my house, linked to my phone. He was quite polite and said that in that case, I wouldn’t require their service.
